Palmer should be the ten.

Just keep it simple.

Rice
Bellingham

Saka
Palmer
Gordon

Kane/Watkins

I mean is it that fucking difficult.
In all seriousness - the challenge with this line-up - every single one of those players (bar Kane / Watkins) all think they are the best player on the team - and play that way. You could add Foden to that mix - as he frequently has the same problem.

A good team has players who know how to play support roles. Even in international football, you need players who put in the dirty work, tracking back, getting stuck in, making off-the ball runs.

The England manager should really create a strategy to consistently get the ball to Kane in dangerous positions and he’ll do the rest.

But, as you say Foden, Bellingham and Saka all want to be the star, even Gordon wants to beat his man and slot it onto the top corner (but he really is just hitting the first defender).

You start with a balanced team though, not shoehorning players into the side.

Palmer is the best talent of the lot, team should be built around him in his best positon.

In that crazy set up....
So?
So, if he’s super talented he produces something, even a few moments that fizzle out, but he didn’t.

For me, Bellingham was the best of a bad bunch tonight. He got involved, upset the opposition, tried to make things happened and scored a goal.

Palmer is clearly a talented boy, but did fuck all tonight.

Funnily enough, if that was a Spurs performance then people are talking about mentality, bottling it, Spursy and all the usual nonsense but because it’s England it’s all on the manager.

I think we overrate England players quite a bit. Foden, palmer, Saka are all good players, maybe even very good players but none are genuinely top class. Kane is the only English player to be so, Bellingham might be but it’s too early to say.

I'm going on holiday to Greece next week so I'm glad we didn't win, last thing I want is a pissed off police officer at Kos airport, sees me travelling on my own and decides to fuck with me.

All the talk was that Carsley was nailed on for the job up to today. What that shows me is that he is not up to it. Looks like he listened all over the place to the criticisms Southgate was getting, listened all over the place about who should be playing, then put out a team that was all over the place. To me this means he doesn't have a philosophy and the performances will get more and more unraveled. He would be worse than Southgate. I could be wrong.......

I’ve been saying it for years now, I don’t understand why it’s so fucking hard to just play players in their natural positions and have a balanced team.

Yes that means having unbelievable players missing out but guess what? You can bring them on!

It would seem we massively underestimated the Greeks, they were organised in defence & countered with speed & no lack of skill.
We on the other hand were laboured & all (bar probably Bellingham) underperformed. I almost felt sorry for Rice as he was left dreadfully exposed, not only by his midfield partners but also by the gung ho attitude of the 2 fullbacks.

It often feels like England is overcompensating. For years, the common wisdom was that England's main issue was their inability to maintain possession and pass effectively. However, the solution to that seemed to have been an overcorrection towards a highly conservative, possession-based style of play, which starkly contrasted with the more dynamic football we have seen in the Premier League over the years.

There was also a long-held belief that England lacked technical players. Now, while there are many players who excel at the 'fancier' aspects of the game, there seems to be a shortage of those willing to do the hard work required off the ball.

I agree. Although, I would have been ok with Bellingham, in place of Lewis, playing deeper in the pivot with Rice, and Palmer/Foden, preferably Palmer as 10.
