I have little sympathy for a club that hands Liverpool £35m in total for Dominic Solanke and Jordon Ibe.

Poor purchasing and an inability to organise a defence is their undoing

Edit: Price amended.

Yep, I think we were discussing this re. Howe's credentials the other day - always been a bit of a soft touch and their best work/football since they got to the PL was done with the players that came up the leagues with them. Simon Francis, Harry Arter, Charlie Daniels, Surman, etc and why even now they keep going back to players like Cook, Smith, Stanislas. The one's who have been brought in might on paper seem more talented, but they haven't got any ounce of scrap in them and have made the team even more flimsy.

Definitely.

Although having said that, if Fraser hadn't been a wantaway underperformer and Brooks not been injured the whole season I think the side would've had enough goals in it to stay up, and they were both very astute signings made by Howe in the PL era. But when they've never been able to fix the defence this sort of situation was always going to happen eventually.

It's starting to look like the Sheffield United goal that was missed by Hawkeye could be the difference between Villa going down and staying up.

Yeah I'm pleased for Villa as I feel they should be a top flight side and I know a few Villa fans who are decent folk, but if that one decision is the difference between them or Watford or Bournemouth staying up it makes the scandal even bigger.

Yeah they haven’t worked out although also a little unlucky as both potentially could have turned out to be gems.

They could still come good as well as have age on their side.

Ibe's been released so if he comes good Bournemouth have still lost ~£15m on him.

Solanke actually started scoring in these last few games so maybe a season of regular Championship football will be what makes him.

Just reading his thoughts on why he failed now.

Is a shame though as potentially could have been a cracking signing for Bournemouth but sometimes things just don’t work and it isn’t always about ability. Looks to me like he perhaps didn’t have strong enough mentality and maybe just didn’t settle in the area.

I'll be very interested in following where the relegated players end up. Thats surely the most talent thats been relegated in quite a while. Sarr & Doucoure from Watford will be on the more. Ake, Brooks, Wilson, King, Fraser from Bournemouth. Norwich have 3 defenders and probably Buendia and Cantwell.

Doucoure would be my pick of the bunch personally.

Agree about Doucoure, would be a proper Dembele replacement and he can score on top of dribbling. Sarr is another good one, similar to Traore and Maximin, very hard for defenders to deal with.
