Would still prefer Archie Gray but if Leeds get promoted that may nto be possible, so perhaps he is our next option here?

As I alluded to earlier he isn't a 6 in Ange's system. The 6 needs to be a player who can take the ball on the half turn, and/or in tight spaces and help us progress up the pitch. Currently only Bissouma and Bentancur have this skillset.

I could see Ederson being an option if we move Bentancur to a permanent rotation role with Bissouma. That would mean Ederson comes in as a Sarr rotation option.

Maybe he can help lead us to a Europa League next season. I wonder what Romero is thinking seeing Atalanta win a trophy before us. We so badly need to win a trophy soon.

I'd be happy for him to adapt his system to something a little bit more robust. As long as the player at 6 doesn't shit themselves on the ball I think it'll work. But I'll lane tweaks to Ange.

I think my point is, the system next year doesn't need to be exactly this system

It does seem like a little bit of a flaw in the system (unless you can find a Rodri level player). We desperately need a 6 with real defensive awareness and ability to solidify us against the break and properly track runners, yet it seems the system calls for a much more possession minded player in that slot.

There's a reason the team that has that player (who can do both) wins everything.

If Leeds don't come up I think we should prioritise Gray regardless really as he could very easily replace Royal as our rotation FB even if long term he will be our DM. Ether way, as I've said before, I really do not see Atalanta selling Koopmeiners and Ederson in the same window and Teun has already spoken about his desire to leave this summer.

I don't think Ange likes to use the term of a 6 and an 8 but rather just the right combination. He usually plays 2 alongside one another but one is usually pressing forward more. However against Burnley it was more like a 1 with Sarr as advanced as Maddison like a 433. So I think he will toy with it depending on the opponent. But I do feel we need a player who will read those counters and cover the gaps more. I think Sarr could actually become that player with more experience. That combination of say Edersen or Sarr alongside Bissouma or Bentancur or Bergvall sounds ideal as a combination.

What about Mats Wieffer? Unrealistic?

He's got a thigh injury that means he misses out on the Euros. Im not sure on the details but it was estimated to put him out for 8 weeks so obviously quite a serious one. If he's fit I'm sure we could get him, he was being valued at around 20/25 mil i think but it would probably depend on the nature and severity of his injury

Haha thanks bud. I'm honestly quite glad the season is over as I can stop watching football for a bit and think about life outside. That being said, on a side note, someone I briefly mentioned just before the scouting thread got shut, a player I hope we are looking at for the DM role is 21 year old Equi Fernádez of Boca. Every time I have watched him recently he has impressed me more and more. Yes it’s true he is maybe just on the raw side but the way he is developing I doubt it will be long until he makes the move to Europe. I can see him having a similarly successful move as Varela.

It's going to be tricky to get raw youth in central midfield with Sarr and Bergvall. Other than that we will probably be looking to the acedamy for longer term. So I would think we probably have room for 1 maybe 2 max this summer but they ought to be a bit more established than those 2. Ederson, Fofana and Gallagher all 24/25 years old.

Wirtz will be waking up in his sleep and making sure Ederson isn’t around. What a performance
