@Ghost Hardware I watched the game back on the app this morning and finished it at lunchtime.
Onyedika and Sabbe the best players for me.
Really interested in us looking at Sabbe as potential RB competition.
As for Onyedika, I love how he keeps the ball moving nicely and he finds a hell of a...
@purplemonkey I get what you’re saying and you make some good points.
What I would say and have always said is I don’t just go off the stats. I use the stats as a tool alongside the eye test.
Hojbjerg ranks well in metrics but he’s clearly too slow and immobile plus he loses his man too easily...
Yeah I hear you.
Honestly I spoke with @Ghost Hardware the other day since he mentioned Onyedika I’m really leaning towards him the most.
He looks like he’s ready to really explode as a player and I don’t think he will cost huge money. Sure he’s not going to be a big name but I think he could...
Agree the 6 position looks the hardest to get right.
At the moment I’m leaning towards Mats Wieffer or Onyedika but still doing some research.
Re Wieffer, I researched his stats just for the CL season and they stand up pretty well. He was top 99th percentile for ball recoveries which is a...
That is pretty much exactly what City, Scum and Pool do all the time.
The difference is they recover better and either win it back before the ball is played and or position themselves in stronger positions to cut out more of the counters. Even then they all get done. Look at City away to Palace...
One of the big problems we have currently imo is that we simply don’t have anyone in attack who has the individual ability to score goals or create from moments of magic.
Son used to score screamers from nothing but he doesn’t shoot now and he’s also starting to naturally decline.
If you...
@Ghost Hardware meant to say earlier on the subject of young wingers, if we want a serious talent who can play the 10 and cover wing roles, we need to seriously be looking at Desire Doue imo.
He also has the kind of explosiveness where he’d be comfortable wider if we coach him but his...
Really tempted by what you said yesterday. Sign Nusa as a young winger and have Williams who can play both flanks, then Johnson.
The best alternative to Williams would be Neto but his current injury problems are just such a red flag at the moment. The other reason Neto would be good is because...
I have been wondering whether the plan is to replace Gio with someone who can play 10 or cover LW as you said, a bit like Deki can play RW but cover 10/8 too.
Then we sign a winger who can play both flanks (plus keep Werner or sign a young talent too).
So we’d have 3 out and out wide players...
It isn’t that surprising though, he did this at Leicester.
This was one of my fears and the reason I didn’t want him. He didn’t work hard enough and was far too inconsistent in comparison to great CAM’s like De Bruyne, Odegaard, Eriksen etc.
He started the season so well I was absolutely...
Thanks for the updates Ghost.
I hope we are still looking at Nusa, as long as his injury problems aren’t too bad.
Onyedika looks a really good player and certainly someone who would fit the kind of profile we’re looking for, without costing a fortune. Hope we are watching him.
Good points mate.
Personally I do think Ange simply has to change our rest defence shape from 2-3 to 3-2. It will significantly improve how we defend counter attacks imo.
I think that’s the biggest tactical tweak he needs to make.
Completely agree on Maddison. He’s now playing exactly like...
