I got up an hour earlier. Performance matched the kit - it was all a bit eartha kitt. Cherry on the cake at the end was Hojbjerg's slide-rule pass to his invisible friend. I almost applauded.
He's Eddie Gray's great-nephew and Frank Gray's grandson. I remember that Leeds team and Eddie, in particular, running rings round us at the Lane in the 70s. This kid is really special - it's worth checking out the videos. Has all the potential to become a top-class DCM. I don't like to hype...
Absolutely. it was clear it was a good-faith exchange re honest confusion. I was baffled that the term somehow slipped under the radar for some in the UK, but that may be because I'm a dual UK/US citizen that's been living in the US for decades.
I just assumed folks would know the meaning of...
I completely agree with you. He was very effective on the left. It seemed he was far more situationally aware of when to cut inside at pace. Think it's a combination of his growing confidence and of stuff that's been worked on in training re movement of our other players to create those openings...
Thought he had an excellent game, and he showed he can play on the left in the inverted role. Think it's a confidence thing. He was driving inside at pace whenever he saw the opportunity yesterday and spaces opened up for him to lay the ball off for others in dangerous positions. Got the goal too.
I think Unai's done really well with getting the best out of that squad, but they weren't going to sustain that run. They were really lucky we had half our first team out in the match at the Lane, and Cash made it even worse for us during that game.
On the "young" theme, I'd say our most consistently, high-performing outfield players this season have been Saar, Van de Ven, Udogie and Porro. Although Porro's a bit of a dinosaur at age 24, it's a great sign for our future.
Really surprised that Pep didn't sub on Doku for Alvarez at HT. City were getting nothing down their left and were not stretching the play enough to really trouble Liverpool who gained momentum. Think that may have been partly the reason that De Bruyne was pissed off when he came off.
