We could also end up sixth- unlikely, but if we lose the 4 difficult games and draw against Sheffield United, then Newcastle might overhaul us. Were Chelsea to win the FA Cup that would put us in the conference league.
That argument doesn't wash with me. We've been in the CL and bought nobody. We've been out of Europe altogether and bought some very good players. It's only one factor of many that prospective players consider.
Arsenal's run in isn't especially easy. Wolves away and United away won't be easy and Chelsea could be troublesome at home. Rest of matches pretty straightforward though 🧐
I can't see us getting anything against Citeh Arsenal or Liverpool, and if we play like today Chelsea will beat us easily too. We need Villa to have a bad end of the season to get 4th.
Yeah I get your point, but our failure in the EL year after year is an organisational issue for the club and not a reason to denigrate the competition. We are much better equipped to do well in the EL than we are in the CL.
I'd really love to have a proper crack at the EL, something we've never done before. With no drop down from the CL we'd have a really good chance. What a fantastic achievement that would be for the club. As opposed to going out of the CL in the early stages with no drop down. I'm sure Mr Levy...
We are pretty likely to finish on 66 points. Looking at the other teams below us, that almost certainly means finishing 5th. That may or may not mean CL. Right at this moment I'm not sure which I'd prefer, CL or EL.
I'm very surprised he started today tbh. He'll be off at half time and I would be absolutely astonished if he started against arsenal. I wouldn't be devastated to see him moved on in the summer.
It seems a bit harsh as we want to support our players. But at the end of the day we need to ask ourselves if he'd hold down a place at arsenal, City or Liverpool and of course he wouldn't. If a better option comes up in the summer he gets bumped further down.
