Great post. Completely agree with this. I think we could see some short-term gains if he accommodates for the likes of Dier and Davies by playing differently but I believe it will hurt us long-term. For me this is much more about long-term than just this season. I know others will disagree but...
I think he wants to stick to the philosophy he wants the team to play long term even if it will hurt us short-term - we could see that against Chelsea when we were down to nine men as well, high line and kept playing out from the back.
This is something I've been thinking as well. PL attracts top players and coaches from around the world, why not the same for referees? It would improve the average refereeing quality significantly.
It's not ideal too sell Dav without a replacement but it gives us a chance to go for a CB in January without having to sell first. When clearing the decks you need to sell when you can, even if it leaves us vulnerable in the short-term.
Agree that could be a good solution to get players to settle in Europe. A league just below the very top ones, Belgium, Netherlands etc where they get to play every week.
Problem is that he's suspended for another six months (?) or so we'd be completely relying on Richy as striker if we replaced Harry with Toney this summer.
Great performance by Doherty. Didn't think he was going to last 90 mins but the tackle towards the end, wow! Thought Sessegnon had a good game as well. Hojbjerg my man of the match though, ran his socks off and almost scored one.
