Newcastle pressed the fuck out of us and, for some unknown reason, we decided it was a good idea to encourage them to do so by faffing around at the back and letting them win every 50/50 ball. We failed to engage in any area of the pitch.

We certainly need to stop coughing up possession so cheaply when we attack. It's been a problem for a while now where we give the ball away time after time. Unfortunately, we don't have a 'hold up' option at the moment.

Part of the problem is that we have a player like LoCelso sat on the bench, and he has the ability to make things happen, but when we need that, Hojbjerg comes on. Giving Gio 10 minutes at the end is too little, too late.

I think the tactics are OK but the intensity has just fallen off a cliff. Start of the season we were pressing the hell out of the opposition. Today we offered nothing and NUFC did exactly that to us. Their pressing energy kept us away from their ropey backline even though we had bags of...

Start of the season we were pressing aggressively and forcing turnovers the whole time. That's exactly what Newcastle have done to us today. We've become more and more passive as the season's progressed, and now we offer next to nothing.

And when you consider what VdV got carded for too.

He's out of form, but no need to write him off. Showed a few signs of improvement lately since AFCON and malaria.

Made 2 absolute howlers within about 20 seconds last time out. If he starts I really hope he isn't the one receiving the ball from the CBs or getting anything on the half turn. OK if he's harassing them further up the pitch.

Good apart from 2 absolute howlers.

Would like to see Bentancur, Sarr, LoCelso midfield but it won't happen.

Yves Bissouma admits he makes mistakes but is excited about what Postecoglou's Tottenham will do

Early season Bissouma was electric but he's currently suffering a dip in form. He's getting there though especially when you take malaria into account.

What Our Opponents' Fans Are Saying About Us 23/24

Football has become so much more tribal in the years that I've been watching. Went to my first game in '66. In those days it was only Arsenal and Utd that were really disliked. Liverpool then had a purple patch under Shankley, but he was an amusing and passionate bloke so it never really pushed...

Yes, Utd would have been given a penalty.

I keep reading Forest supporters whinging about Maddison 'punching' Yates. Seriously? I've seen more violent assaults in Kindergarten playgrounds!

We looked a different team when Bentancur and Hojbjerg came on. The intensity immediately went right up and we got hold of a game that was slipping away. Hope Bissouma and Sarr take note of what's required. GLC also did way better than Maddison imo.

Player Watch Player Watch: Giovani Lo Celso

Yates is a ****. Should have been sent off in the first match for 'brandishing an imaginary yellow' whilst on a yellow already, and yesterday should have got a second yellow for telling the Ref to look at VAR. Those are both bookable offences. Aside from that, he's a dirty little fucker too.
