I think the advanced metrics are useless if all of the normal, actually football relevant metrics like sacks, pressures, quarterback hits and hurries, tackles, tackles for loss, forced fumbles and passes defended disagree with them. Watt beat Garrett in all of those categories, that actually...
I really don't understand Garrett getting the DPOY award - he was great the first half of the year, and then had no sacks the last 7 weeks, and both TJ Watt and Micah Parsons beat him in almost every statistical category by the end of the year.
can't believe the Steelers pulled that out the bag - they've been so much better with Rudolph under centre. If he is resigned the training camp battle between him and Pickett next summer will be facinating. Shame TJ Watt will be out for the playoffs though after a very avoidable injury.
It's really great to see Dobbs doing well. He was always a very admirable member of the Steelers team contributing a lot behind the scenes to game analysis, but it looked like he would be a permanent 2nd or 3rd choice with no chance of starting. Glad to see him getting some time in the...
According to the (really well written) Athletic article about him a few years ago we first approached Internacional for him in 2011, so not quite 30, but still 12 years ago...
If getting the two gone now sets us up to actually buy the players we need in January I think it's worth the risk. And if selling them Sanchez has any influence in them taking N'Dombele off our hands it's even more worth it. I actually think Emerson might be pretty great as an RCB in Ange's system.
Happy to draft next Sunday. 6pm is prime putting toddler to bed time, so a bit later is better for me also.
Most fantasy leagues nowadays seem to have PPR on as default - worth considering? I'm struggling to find as many fantasy articles that work with our scoring system these days!
It does feel like with the kind of fees that Brighton and other smart-scouting teams are getting for their players nowadays, it's no longer feasible for us to wait until promising young players have moved to a smaller Premier League team before we buy them, and that we need to be buying at this...
Swansea City - where I grew up. During my time at school they were truly terrible, in the third division (League 2 now), including the infamous game where if they lost they'd be relegated to the conference. Because they were so poor everyone had a Premier team. My family is from London and Spurs...
One of my mates is a palace season ticket holder so I go a couple of times a year and he's easily their best defender. For a young player he really commands the defence and has great anticipation - better at interceptions and reading the game rather than a big physical CB. Better on the ground...
Good moves by the Steelers - unusual for them. Getting a high 2nd round pick for Claypool with one year remaining is good for the rebuild, and the late round pick swap for Jackson at least gives them some options at CB.
Frustrating season but at least they now have 3 picks likely in the top 45...
Apparently he was banned for 6 months for shoving a referee in 2019 after a teammate was sent off. Not sure that's the kind of fight we are looking for.
