The guy's career was over the moment he left Juve anyway. He was fantastic in a trio with Pirlo and Vidal (sometimes Marchisio). Since then he's struggled to find any consistency.
Most footballers do. They've got so much money and there are some amazing artists out there that can produce masterpieces, but most players get the same shite that looks like it was done by some ex-prison tattooist.
I actually think with how deep they're playing and how compacted they are we should put natural footed players on the left and right instead. Get them to whip the ball in earlier.
I know it's splitting hairs, and I'm not watching the match, but wouldn't it have been 4231 rather than 424?
Regardless, from what it sounds two in central midfield isn't enough against City.
Ledley for me. His breakthrough around the turn of the century was when I was really getting into football as a teenager.
When he was fit and able he was in a class of his own. I don't doubt that injury free he would've been one of the greatest defenders of all time.
I'm not saying they aren't a problem going forward. I wish people wouldn't assume and infer so much. I'm saying they didn't have as bad a game as people made out, and that they're scapegoating. The poor midfield and high line press is what caught us.
And yes, I agree we need better than them...
We weren't dominated. They just fought for it more and made more chances due to our high line. Those particular defenders aren't suited to the high line, that's a club issue for not replacing them, but they did a decent job considering. Square pegs, round holes.
I'm talking about people blaming the ref and bemoaning Dier and Davies.
You're right, we can't play high line with those players. Not necessarily the players fault though, it's the coach that needs to adapt tactics to suit. He won't compromise so I guess we live by the sword and die by the...
Love reading some of the comments when we lose. Proper knee jerk shit.
We lost that game in the midfield and didnt create enough chances. Wolves were more aggressive. They deserved the win. Forget about blaming the ref (wasn't that bad considering some of the others we've had this season), or...
Crazy player. This is always going to happen with him. I know people say he's amazing when he's on his game but we've seen defenders who can be quality week in and week out without losing their heads. Take VdV for example.
He's one of our two best in the squad but I wouldn't mind replacing him...
