We don’t have two established strikers, we’ve got one. Deki isn’t a central midfielder. When it comes to perception, I perceived that Forster wasn’t good enough and Postecoglu/Lange/Munn/levy should have perceived that too.
He’s a good player, but he’s not great and for an experienced player with a World Cup winners medal to his name, i expect more leadership on the pitch than we get from him.
I think we see the squad differently.
Forster is not good enough to be back up keeper at our club.
Four central defenders when one is really a left back and two of them are consistently injured.

Here’s where I saw the squad as light, only one reliable keeper, only four central defenders ( Romero and VdV often unavailable) one left back, three central midfielders and two strikers one being Richarlison, who we know is never fit.
I can’t agree with the running players into the ground theory, most of the premiership clubs play a high press, we had a woefully small squad going into a season where we knew we were playing twice a week for most of it.
