3 rejections in 1 January window has to be some kind of record surely?
Problem now is the precedent has been set by Tel and Tomori, other players are also going to question signing for us because, "Well if they didn't want to, why should I?"
As much as I'd love to sign Dibling, it stinks of a "we tried"
Young english, (currently injured) player playing for a relegation candidate team asking for upwards of 30-40million, in January with only 10 days left of the window.
Hopefully we do get him, but looks unlikely to me.
Personally would also like us to really push for someone like Ait-Nouri to have genuine competition and rotation with Udogie and not have the levels drop.
Could fix the left back position for the next 5+ years
While in negotiations for Kolo Muani, would it not make sense to possibly explore a deal for Kang-In Lee?
Think theres been some suggestion PSG would be open to a loan with option to buy with Arsenal having been linked.
Would give us a dribbly, technical option for the Right Wing who is...
Essugo would be a great buy, whenever I've watched him, he always strikes me as a player that actually takes pride in defending and is proactive with it.
Something I think that's missing amongst some of our current midfield/defensive midfield options.
Surely we can look at a potential Kolo Muani signing through the relatively simple lens of:
- Is he better than Richarlison: Yes
- Is he better than Werner: Yes
- Will he be more available than Richarlison: Yes
In isolation without thinking about werner within this, RKM would simply operate...
I'm not disputing that at all, but for every great player weve signed, weve also signed 3 or 4 who have needed replacing after not too long.
My point here is we should just be aiming a bit higher than a keeper who's been out of favour with every club hes been at since 2021.
And idk what you...
He hasn't been a consistent shot stopper since his first few years at West Brom.
Displaced by Henderson at Palace and was bought as a replacement for Jose Sa and they already want rid.
Think the club have shown over the last 20 years that when it comes to recruitment they arent exactly ones to place full faith in.
And who really needs to scout him? Johnstone has been in premier league teams for over a decade we all know who he is.
I don't even necessarily mean top-class my original point still stands in that hes a poor shot stopper and hes not great with his feet.
Simply a keeper that either fits the system or is an above average shot stopper is what we couldve been aiming for at a base level. Johnstone is neither.
The only way i can somewhat get on board with this, is if it is just a stop-gap loan.
Sam Johnstone to Spurs should not be something that we have to convince ourselves is a good idea.
