We will be saying many things about how the next bloke is underperforming, because we were saying many similar things about how the last bloke was underperforming and the last bloke and the last bloke. We’ll change the wallpaper: that’s all. If the solution is a third interim in five years then...
Genuinely curious as to when a team in the bottom 6 had a better GD than two of the top 6.
And by genuinely curious I mean a little curious and if anyone actually knows the answer I’ll personally give you a wedgie.
Arsenal won’t win the league cause they’re not that good. They didn’t win it either of the past two years where they actually were good: I have no fear they’ll do it this time.
To me though, Ange’s flaws have been compounded by pretty shambolic shortsighted ownership over the past six or seven years. I get why some would want a complete overhaul but I dunno, it’s starting to feel like deck chairs on the Titanic without pretty serious changes upstairs. Which is why the...
But we’re judging managers on not utilising players they clearly didn’t rate, signed years before they arrived, who have been disregarded by other coaches. Regardless of Spence and Reggie’s qualities, that just isn’t a sustainable way to run a club.
What difference would waiting five months and reassessing make? We’re not going down, and frankly I’m sick of short term fixes which would, this season, be the difference between us finishing say 10th and 14th. I still think the worst thing the club could do is another short sighted appointment...
Yeah, it’s “are we going to keep judging managers on how they use players signed by the club two years ago”. It’s not like Ange has had some blind spot no one else has had with Spence, is it?
I think any manager comes in and has twenty years of disappointments to contend with - it’s a huge issue and fans patience is understandably dwindling by the year. I’d hope you’re right though.
Huge difference of expectations and pressure though - Bournemouth finish in the European places and it’s the best season in their history. I’m not in a place to comment on their injuries cause frankly I’ve not seen enough of them, but them doing well with injuries doesn’t mean we should ignore...
What rotation options wasn’t he using? Spence, a player we’ve tried to loan out twice, and Reguilon, a player we’ve also tried to loan out twice? Come on.
My point is there’s a huge difference of expectations at Bournemouth as there is here. I don’t think it’s a bad thing that we’re sticking with a bloke - we simply don’t spend enough money to get instant success or get in a replacement. If that worked, it’d have worked through the past five years.
Was nearly sacked after his start there though. Absolutely no way he’s still the boss at a top six club with that start - and maybe therein lies the problem.
I mean it’s a very fair excuse if a) your team requires energy and b) your team requires good options, and ours currently has neither.
I’m always a little skeptical about “look at how much better these are” cause I’ve seen enough “these are so much better why can’t we be like them” about teams...
The club’s general direction since the decision to sack Poch has been only trending downwards, with an exception of 21/22. There’s really only one person to blame for that. I think if Levy wasn’t a big shareholder that decision would’ve seen him ousted.
