Would definitely command bigger wages but from reports I've seen he would be gettable for 25-30M. However Lyon want a sell on clause which would be an issue.
If we offered a bit more and not have a release then surely Lyon would accept. They desperately need the money.
Son is letting Ange down but it's not because of a lack of effort but lack of quality.
He's not as sharp as he used to be due to age and is ineffective when starting games. He would be a great option off the bench against tired legs.
He's way too raw at the moment.
@Ghost Hardware mentioned that Cherki's off the ball work has improved so whilst he's not a winger we should go get him and at least he'll help break teams downs.
Can look to get a right winger in the summer and Cherki can replace Maddison.
The amount of injuries is down to the playing style that has been amplified by the number of games and the lack of rotation, due to lack of options and Ange not trusting players.
The medical team are also an issue so at least they're trying to fix that.
Which Ange just said was always the plan with a new head of performance. It's pretty common for someone new to bring in new people and our medical team has been bad for years so I'm glad they're making changes.
Not sure why this is a stick to beat Ange with.
The premier league is the most competitive it's been. Villa and Newcastle are competing for champions league with the big 6 ans you have Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth and Fulham who are really well run.
So yeah we have young talent but so do those clubs. If we don't bring the right manager...
Whilst I agree, if we don't get the right manager in we will be here again in 18 months regardless of the young talent. Every premier league team has really good players now.
You definitely don't watch enough of Chelsea to think they are defensively solid. They've conceded 13 goals in their last 8 games, since Fofana got injured and haven't won in their last 5 games.
Maresca got £200m worth of talent to be on pace for the same number of points as last season. So...
I disagree, he and Son are our biggest issues right now. They can't hold the ball up under pressure and teams can leave them 1 vs 1 knowing they won't/can't take them on.
It's the not wanting the ball that annoys me. All he wants to dois to run in behind when there's usually no space and when he does receive it, he just plays it first time.
He doesn't even need to take the defender on but at least make it look like you might. Defenders know they just have to get...
Exactly people will be more forgiving of his mistakes and he's a quick learner so can't see him continuously making the same mistakes.
Would love to use him how slot uses Gravenberch. With his experience at CB now he could play there late in games when we're chasing a winner against teams that...
Bissouma doesn't have that same ability although Dembele was unique. Bissouma also has a terrible work rate, the amount of times he jogs back is infuriating.
There are far better 8s out there so wouldn't be hard to replace.
Ange isn't the one finding the players the recruitment team is and thats how it should be. I'm sure Ange has a say and speaks to the players but this is why you have a sporting director.
You recruit players and managers for a style of football so there's continuity.
No they're not backing him because this is what they do.
The players we need would still be required under a new manager so it doesn't make sense not to ge them in.
Just checked it and although they played 6 games together it was at the end of the 21/22 season. Brighton won 5 and drew 1 which included wins against us, Arsenal and United.
I do remember being impressed with their set up at the end of that season just didn't remember that they had both...
