I guess it's all relative, but it feels like we have moved on significantly from the days of opponents targeting Sanchez and Royal because of their lack of ability on the ball.
Postecoglou has at multiple times said we have to suffer, and implied it means himself, the players and the fans. I wonder how much of this is about making it clear to the players that they need to fix the situation themselves. It could be the manager saying the players need to suffer and they...
If Son and Odobert are out I could see Werner starting, rather than Kulu moving to the wing, in order to allow us to keep playing Kulu and Mads centrally.
I think it will largely be the same as against Arsenal and hope that playing against a team that doesn't have the best defense in the league means we get a better outcome.
I definitely feel he's going to continue with 2 attacking AMs, especially at home. We need the goal threat that Maddison...
I think we have:
1) a few first team players that need to play to build up fitness/momentum (Solanke, Vicario).
2) Backups that need to play to ensure they are match ready in games where we need them (Dragusin, Werner and Odobert, Sarr judging by the press conference commenta).
3) Players who...
The last time we played them we had pretty near a first choice team (at the time) available and managed over 70% of possession. I know there were some individual errors last time, but I think this represents a very good test of our manager.
Do we have a small squad? Davies or Spence could fill in at left back. As for lo Celso, we've got Madison, Kulu, Bergval that all play that role. I suspect we will see subsidised loans for them. Ange won't want players who aren't part of this plans.
I think our bench looks significantly...
Great to be able to bring on Richy and Son who were both starters last season! Also I would imagine one of Bergval and Gray will probably get some time at the end.
I suspect we'll see Madison dropping deep to give another option getting the ball from back to front and an ability to spread the play to our 4 wingers.
Even with European football, the current squad seems pretty large, and that's without making more signings. There will definitely be 1 or 2 not making the 20 for premier league games.
1 Vicario
2 Udogie
3 Van de ven
4 Romero
5 Porro
6 Gray
7 Bentancur
8 Madison
9 Son
10 Solanke
11 Kulu
12...
I can live with that decision. Optimizing for speed of decision rather than going for a perfection that doesn't exist when decisions are made by people.
For reference, the team that started against Brentford in the first game last year was:
Vicario
Udogie
Van de Ven
Romero
Emerson (Going?. Porro was on the bench)
Bissouma
Skipp (Sarr was on the bench)
Madison
Son
Kulu (Johnson didn't sign until 1st September)
Richardson
----
Austin
Sanchez...
