Player Watch Player Watch: Timo Werner

I like the signing of Werner as he fits our playing style, Ange wants him and he comes across as a good professional. But I understand the frustration in the signing. It seems we have quality in Son that could go downhill in the not too distant future then a bunch of good but not special...

Our net spend has been around £150m a year for the last 3 seasons. I’m guessing this year will be around the same. Werner coming in on loan could help us pay a higher fee on targets such as Doue, Sesko and Gray without going over budget.

I don’t think we can buy a player then sell just based on if he isn’t as good as the best in the Prem.

I think a loan is the best option for us. He seems like a guy who wants to play but won’t complain everytime he’s on the bench. I believe his salary is around the same as Perisic’s was. But we still need at least one attacker of real quality to come in this summer.

Agree. £50m is the sort of fee we pay on our top players. At such a young age no one really knows what we're buying. Not to say we shouldn't do it but this would be alongside the higher fees we've ever paid for a player.

Not sure if your post is meant to be a counter to my post as it completely agrees with everything I wrote.

Certainly an interesting one. Some playing around with the books on a Rodon swap could help Leeds out and make them more willing to sell to us. We'll likely have around £150m net spend this summer. If we can get a decent fee for Royal, Hojbjerg and Reguillon then we might be able to stretch...

I agree, but I think the timing of a young signing is really important. We signed a very talented youngster in Gil who was already performing well in La Liga. He was physically under developed for the Prem and we haven't helped him develop at all. It's been a terrible deal for us and the...

I think the reason you got some negative reps is many of us are beyond bored of the "Levy won't pay this" rhetoric in almost every thread. Our net spend over the last few seasons is pretty high and we have spent big on Johnson, Maddison, Porro, Richarlison and Romero. So the idea we penny...

He has time on his side sure. But he also plays for a club who might be in huge debt and need to sell and the opportunity to play in the Premier League is always a pull for a player.

The days of Bale for £5m, Carrick for £3.5m are long gone. There are links to the likes of City. If we want him, we have to pay up and hope we're the most attractive offer to him.

Winning mentality, we should sign him onto a long contract.

KWP is a possible signing if Leeds go up though.

There are so many examples if this not being the case throughout history it's unreal. Half the Liverpool "spice boys" grew up as Everton fans.

Guess today is the day that determines if he is available this summer.

For me, it's always only been a potential signing if Chelsea are forced to sell for FFP reasons. Them spending so big on that Brazilian guy suggests they're either not taking possible FFP sanctions seriously or they know something and aren't facing punishment. If they were selling cheap due to...

Let's All Laugh At... let's all laugh at United

I think keeping him in the job based on today's result is really stupid but probably what they'll do. He's either the right manager for them or he isn't. They've spent big on Hojlund, Casemiro, Mount, Onana, Antony, Eriksen and Martinez since he joined. He hasn't got the best out of any of...
