A reflection of the clubs mentality and why anytime our club is mentioned regarding winning anything it is met with such derision absolute joke.

Yeah I wonder why the club's mentality was never questioned two weeks ago when we became the 2nd team to win 6-1 at OT...hazard a guess.

There's something fundamentally flawed with our defenders and the defensive structure atm. I don't think they currently have the mental and tactical capacity to defend for a whole half of football and we shouldn't be doing that currently as it's clearly ineffective, as shown by not keeping a clean all season in all competitions.

The team just need it drummed into them that 3-0 is never enough. Four is borderline safe.

Us fans know it, opposition teams know it too.

The single biggest problem was that when West Ham started playing footy we didn't have a "How fucking dare you" style mentality, that spurred us into a proper fight for control of that game. It's the mentality of Champions and perfectly exemplified by the Fergie sides.

Secondly we genuinely got unlucky. The equaliser was a worldy, came from a bullshit freekick yet again and Bale was denied what was in my opinion a stonewall penalty. Hopefully we have some VAR karma coming up later in the season to help us out.

Thirdly Mourinho messed up not by bringing Winks on but by taking N'dombele instead of Sissoko off. Sissoko was there to dominate that midfield and he was failing to do it in the second half. We needed someone to come on who if they couldn't dominate could at least hold onto the ball and bring others into play. Winks really wan't a bad call at the time. Moura for Son was also a mistake, in hindsight it should have been Davies coming on but at the time it didn't seem a bad decision. Moura's pace was perfect to punish them on the counter. Him being out of position on the left I think caused him to be less effective defensively and offensively and maybe that should have been considered, I don't think anyone saw that at the time though.

Defensively I'm not the biggest fan of Sanchez although happy to give him time. With the OG if he hadn't gotten something on it then there was a West Ham player following in to score. He had to play it and fucked it up, it happens. I'd get off his back over that and focus more on his general play. I can't wait to see if Rodon can step up.

Overall though we look fucking dangerous. Put Lo Celso and Lamela back in that squad and we're going to be fearsome with the fast one touch play going forward. It's easy to forget after that result, how good we were going forward. Bale missed (while being fouled) but he utterly skinned two players to get there. He's going to be brilliant.

3-0 is plenty enough, we've defended a 3 goal margin, even 2, even 1 successfully many times in the past before. Just because it's some fallacy that some are desperate to hang onto where it's happened to us in certain moments doesn't mean it's the rule.

Reflecting on yesterdays game another poster alluded to the fact that when the ref calls a free against us we are never in his face. Look at Utd, Pool, Cheatski, Arsenal & Citeh all get in the refs face when one is called against them they don't like. Us, we all scram back into position just waiting on the free kick. You get in the refs face at the first opportunity and he has second thoughts. For the Bale attempt when he was shoved just as he went to kick it why were we not up in arms even to waste a few seconds. When Snodgrass fell like he was hit with a thunderbolt again we just let it roll and when the spam defender obstructed Winks we did nothing we should have been in his face, we never ever learn. I've seen it so many times over the years we don't have anybody who sticks it to the ref.

Game management is also one of our the worst things we do. Utd under Fergie, Arse under Vinegar, Pool under Klopp win these types of games we don't. You can't blame Mourinho as he has done wherever he has been. We were 3-0 up with 10 minutes remaining playing some great stuff and we blew it. Move on to the next game and please please please learn from this.

I think this game may be the defining point of our season, we will either take this into every game and feed our nervousness of it happening again or we will take this into every game and feed our determination not to let it happen again.
Which one depends mostly on how José deals with it.

It reminds of Poch in 15-16. We were brilliant that season but prone to some absolute stinkers (Bottling a 2-0 lead late on to Stoke at home being an example). In that season we had Dembele, Alli and Dier all playing very well. However whenever Bentaleb or Mason came on we became terrible. I think this season Sissoko and Winks are the new Bentaleb and Mason. The squad just falls apart when they're in the midfield.

Fuck me lad, shouldn't let it affect you that much, have a little cry in the shower and move on.

It was a pisser of a weekend, wife lost her job on Friday- she’s the breadwinner, I got out of the car yesterday and my iPhone slid out of my pocket and looks like it has been sprayed with an AK47 after it did a gentle flop onto the ground so yeah a bit fucking grumpy with Ireland looking going into national lockdown tonight

Sorry to hear that mate, was just hoping to get a little laugh with the crying in the shower but I know when things are going shit the football can be the perfect remedy. I lost my job earlier in the year and those few months were shit but trust me, it all turns around very quickly and I'm sure it will for your family.

Wasn't all bad - our car passed the NCT (MOT) yesterday morning, 14 yr old motor, not a problem on it all all - been well maintained all its life, the tester actually complemented on how well it was looked after. That was the biggest worry, so I suppose looking for the team to win would have been the icing that was on the cake not sliding off it.

Need to start disrupting the flow of the game more when the tide starts to turn like after the first goal. Nothing I would expect a Mourinho side to be bad at.

A spare substitution and Lamela to bring on and we'd have been fine.

day after optimism. Might have been good to have a result like this now rather than later on. Get our head shaken a bit.

Son especially looked hurt after that one. Hoping the rest of the boys did too and learn from it so it doesn’t happen again.

You have to ask what was said at half time. Cos 2nd half we just weren’t at the races. Was it “we’re doing great this is in the bag” or concentrate / keep it tight. I’d wager the latter given JM but it’s scary to think that was the plan and immediately discarded by the players. I am factoring in Moyes giving Wham a rocket as well. Still .......
