So so good. I love Winks but the difference is massive

Who would’ve thought we would not win the ball as much without him on the pitch

He's a couple of levels above Winks, that much is evidently clear. Today's game showed just how much we need a balanced midfield. As soon as Winks came on, we lost direction in the middle and it looked disjointed straight away. I've said it before that I think Tanguy will become the most important part of Jose's puzzle. He is that link that brings it all together and there is a clear direction and balance in that midfield when he is playing.

Our best midfielder by a mile. Taking him off cost us the game. With him on they couldn't get near him anytime he had the ball.

I’m going to be in a minority here but I’m not convinced. He’s one of the most skilful players I’ve seen in a while but he reminds me of George Kinkladze, City fans loved him but they got relegated. I know I’m going to get lots of disagrees here but let’s revisit at the end of the season.

PS we’re got going to get relegated

you really must hate Ndombele if you are not convinced after his performance today or this season

I don’t hate him at all, he’s a very skilful player. I’m yet to be convinced he’s worth £60m, time will tell. Football is a team game

Not worried about Ndombele at all. He's clearly so much more confident this season, wants the ball and his passing is so good. He's only going to improve. But we need GLC and Hojbjerg playing with him regularly. The drop off in quality from those three to Winks and Sissoko is huge.

Boy did I get this guy wrong. Assuming this upturn in form and fitness isn't a blip, he could be an absolute force in the Premier League. Can't wait to see him alongside PEH and a fully fit GLC. That's a hell of a midfield and attacking unit we've got.

I thought he was pretty good as well.

Will be interesting to see if Jose is brave enough to play him and Lo Celso alongside PEH, or if he will continue to use one of them plus someone supposedly ‘safer’ such as Winks or Sissoko.

Personally I’d play them both as Lo Celso has enough bite.

Worrying thing is though if any of PEH, Ndombele or Lo Celso are injured the other midfielders to come in have not been particularly inspiring.

I’ve always liked Winks but he just doesn’t seem to be improving.

He didn't look like he was struggling to me when he came off. It seemed a sub for the sake of it, it was the Ndombele show in that 2nd half.

Can’t think of any measure by which Sissoko or Winks are safer options than Lo Celso. Our main three in midfield is obvious. We just haven’t seen them on the pitch together yet.

I was actually laughing at a couple of his touches. He was essentially taking the piss out of the West Ham players; not showboating, but doing the only thing possible to get out of tricky situations. Situations none of our other midfielders could've escaped from.
