I just caught the Chelsea 2-2 ‘battle of the bridge’ on sky and thought to myself that Jose would never have said we were nice guys after that match. We could’ve had 58 red cards. Amazing match, the only match I can watch again and again despite not winning. You can see just from this match alone why he loves Dier and Lamela.

He would have called us a bunch of stupid ****s though

I think this is one of my favourite memes ever. Consistently funny for a variety of topics over the years and I can still look at the faces of the actors and crack a smile.

Plus, the girl in blue looks beautiful, even with her offended face. Plenty of women look very dumb and ugly when they make such expressions. I actually had to stop seeing a girl once because I noticed such phenomena (which in turn made me accept the fact that she wasn't that pretty, maybe even ugly, which made her unworthy of me).

Sorry mate. Just telling it as I saw it. Especially watching the game in full on replay.

And I never said this was indicative of Mourinho's Spurs side. Just what this game reminded me of.

And if you think we never played long and quick with diagonals to a fast breaking Son, you've probably missed Toby's entire career with us.

Similarly with overloads to fullbacks - maybe missed most of Walker's best time at Spurs.

Like I said I just watched the game again. Hojbjerg dropping between the two centrebacks with our fullbacks pushing up high. Classic 2016 Spurs.

It's not an insult to Mourinho; nor a pump up to Poch. Just enjoying our supposedly "uber defensive" current coach having several strings to his bow. Something perhaps Poch could be accused of lacking?

Poch didn't invent football. Neither did Mourinho. There's always going to overlap. Stop being so precious. (y)

Nah its not me being precious, similarly you mention overlap, I find and not necessarily just you but many of out fans on here clinging onto and giving credit to poch on the overlap. Agreed neither invented football but I see something totally different to anything poch did. The overt playing into space, which I love by the way. Something poch never really did. Jose is very much defend the man, ball into space. The other thing is Joses effective zigzag vertical back and forth quick one toucb passing. It's not accident we are seeing so much of this and the players seem to be in the right place to do this. Personally, I never saw a poch team play like we did on Sunday. Yes bits and peices like what you mentioned, but I'm talking intricacies and I find their models very very different.

I liked poch don't get me wrong, but I never felt we had that zing that, ruthless confidence. He never really understood the counter, and at times pochs ball was mixed with pedestrian avb (who I also quite liked in bits) possession ball. The terrior like press was a little naive, yes the season we had the best stats in everything was amazing, but we never did what we did on Sunday.

Nothing personal mate, I'm just sick of the nostalgia of poch. He never came across as a winner and similarly to the players needing to get behind Jose like they have to get us up to the next level, we all need to get behind Jose too. For the record I was so pleased to see Jose arrive, I've been behind him from game 1,i remember some good times under poch but I want what we are getting now. In half a season we have gone from looking like we can't win a game to a record win at old Trafford.

One of my all time favourite games. We have always been weak, timid but nice to watch. Under Poch we learnt a bit about tactical fouls and playing a bit less nice, it just ran out of steam.

Jose is a winner because he plays dirty, his teams do things that Old Spurs thought they were too nice to do, that somehow football has morals. It doesn't. Lamela is our Deco. Dier is our Terry (sorry Eric). They are ****s. But they are our ****s. I love them.

I love the job mourinho is doing but anyone concerned he'll be gone by the end of next season?

I think one of the problems our club has had over the last 3-4 years is that we are always looking to the horizon.

“We will be be a big club once we are consistently in the top 4” “We will be able to challenge in the transfer market once the stadium is finished.” Our model has always been to sign potential and turn them into stars (and it’s worked by and large.)

But we are a big club, we can challenge now, and the thing that matters the most is what we do in the here and now.

For me in appointing Mourinho the club has changed MO somewhat, this isn’t so much a project to be built now, it’s a team that’s been tweaked and refreshed ready for a push at winning things. I genuinely feel like we are finally acting like a big club. Everyone will point to the Bale signing as the boost the club needed etc. But oddly enough, for me it’s the Doherty signing that impressed me, a player in his late twenties, from a team that finished in the top ten, with relatively little sell on value coming in to be an immediate starter. We never used to buy that type of player because we were worried about two or three years down the line.

Mourinho isn’t here for what might be possible in two years time, he’s here for what’s possible right now, and that’s really exciting to me. If he’s still here at the end of next season, that probably means he’s been successful. We can worry about if he stays or not then.

I don't think he actually actively plays dirty, I just think he doesn't play too nicely, and there is a difference. He isn't Stoke, who'd consider breaking an opponents leg more important than scoring goals. He just doesn't have his eyes set on the fair play price, and for that - well - fair play to him.

Wonder how many who gave me neg and optimistic ratings when I said Josè had developed a new philosophy etc, and approach to his his teams will play. Well now we can see ?

yeh! Yeh! I can hola ? But I can hear some saying ‘Too early?’ COYS!!!
Nice shout Herc, it does seem like this is a slightly new style of play for Jose, I think brining in JC as assistant was a very good move for Jose.

But to be fair we are now playing a similar way to how his first Chelsea team and Real Madrid team when they had frightening pace and power on the break in a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 so not sure just how new this style of play is but I can see some subtle differences with slightly more pressing higher up etc. Either way its certainly more exciting than parking the bus each week so long may it continue, not that I mind if the bus is needed every now and again in big matches.

At the time I enjoyed it but looking back I was embarrassed to watch it. Similar to Holland vs Spain in the 2010 World Cup where Holland were nothing short of a disgrace.

We lost our heads and as mentioned, we were a stupid bunch of *****! It brought me no joy seeing our players rip through the Chelsea players, regardless of how much I dislike them. There is no place in football to intentionally hurt a player, similar to Luke Shaw on Sunday where he should have 100% seen red for a disgusting tackle with no other objective than to hurt Moura.

Chelsea got in our heads that day and did the job they set out to do, there are different ways to be competitive in a match and as Jose has said, we need to be intelligent ***** and moving forward, I think we will be.

I’m actually not, which is a nice change from being stressed by Poch”s flirting with other jobs in his later seasons.

Jose‘s family are settled in London, he’s always seemed fond of us and we have excellent training and stadium facilities, probably amongst best you can get.

Plus he gets to work with players like Kane and Son, who should stay if we win things under him.

Real Madrid possibly could appeal to him, although given he is settled in London and Real Madrid are a bit of a circus club I’d wager he sticks with us as long as we continue to be successful.

He‘s also pretty much managed everywhere too so not like has a burning ambitious to need to win trophies in another country.

If anything he has more to prove with us and it’s a fresher challenge.

Not really because I’m convinced by the time he leaves we’ll be a very attractive proposition for high calibre managers

On top of all that, he's been castigated for his time with Man U, with the general prevailing opinion that he's past his sell by date.

I can't think of another major club in Europe that hasn't won it's domestic title for 60 years. Can you imagine if he did win the title with us it will be the biggest F U to his detractors. I'm sure that's what is appealing to him at Spurs.

I think he'll stay as long as he has a point to prove. He'll know that he can make himself a legend here if he starts winning silverware.

There are bigger clubs than us out there, but he's already managed half of them, and the other half (Bayern and Barca chiefly), for one reason or another, wouldn't touch him with a bargepole.

I think after the Newcastle match he did an interview where he was saying how he loves it here at Spurs and how he wants to be here for a long long time. So think we’re good for a while.

I genuinely think he prefers to be the underdog. And what better underdog in England than us? Winning the title with us on the limited budget under covid circumstances would surely be his biggest success (at least up there with Porto). I think he'll be here past next season. Can see it in him that he is enjoying it. Much less pressure than United (where he still won trophies and finished 2nd, something we would happily take).

Absolutely! Abso-fucking-lutely! No more Mr Nice Spurs.

If needed, I want us to be so nasty on the pitch that even Milwall fans catch their breath and mumble, 'oh, I say, that's a bit much'; I'm serious - not about the Milwall fan bit, but the rest.

Thing is Jose will only ever go to where he believes he can win stuff.

We have everything in place for this to happen now, and he's being given exactly what he's ask for. There's a reason why Hitch and Birch were brought in and the restructuring at board level as well.

Levy I believe has proven in the last couple of years Enic are not only in this for the money, which has been leveled at them in the past.

He must be excited really. Whatever he achieves with us will be valued much higher than at face value due to our recent trophy drought. When you take that out of the equation and look at the squad and facilities now at his disposal he has more than adequate tools to work with.

The only thing left about us that isn't elite standard is internal mentality and external expectations and reputation. Jose already seems to be making inroads on the former and Levy is helping by showing there is ambition at board level too. It's now down to Jose and the team to prove everyone else wrong on the pitch.
