Pretty much the point I’ve been making since last season. When you build a structure, you start from the foundations, it’s fundamental and has been proven time and time again.

Attacks win games, defences win titles.
I have no idea why you, of all people, would say such a thing.

;)

That first chelsea team he inherited. He soon got rid of Robben & Duff. Couldn’t wait to get them out the door ?
I’m sure you think this is relevant somehow, doesn’t change the fact that his Chelsea team did exactly what I said they did.

Under Ranieri they were also rans, under Mourinho they broke records, points and goals scored.

Yeah no relevance at all getting rid of two of the most exciting wingers in the league.
How about turning Joe Cole from one of the most exciting and natural footballers you could ever wish to watch into a good cog in a very very efficient wheel?

I don't agree with your way of assessing "exciting football". You're individualising it and football is a team game.

It's great seeing Messi or Bale - or Son - do something ridiculous by himself, but for me it's not the main event. What I love best is seeing brilliant team goals, a finely-tuned semi-telepathic unit, with teammates who are so tight that each knows what the other is about to do and can play blind passes and psychic through-balls, pull defenders out of position so their teammates can get a run - or cover for each other in defence the way King and Woodgate, or the famous Arsenal back four used to do.

It's like listening to a really great live band - like Little Feat live in the 1970s or the John Coltrane Quartet, just totally in tune with each other.

Under Mourinho, Kane and Son are starting to develop that level of empathy, epitomised by Son's first goal last night. Kane leapt up and pinged a weighted free kick to where he knew Son would be running. It was less than a second between the whistle and the free kick.

The inspiration works because of the discipline. That's what @Ionman34 and I are getting at. You can't do the seamless virtuosic teamwork without the iron discipline.

What about it?

Cole was part of a team that won multiple trophies, scored lots of goals and dominated whilst he was in charge.

I’m sure Cole cries himself to sleep over his “wasted” career under Mourinho.

I got that ad, and I'd buy whatever they're selling if I had the first idea what the hell it is!
I keep getting this one....quite off putting.

Im sure he doesn’t but I know he was a far duller player post Jose

As I said Jose’s teams are intelligent, efficient, winning machines. Not attacking and exciting

That’s all I’m saying

You sure about that? Duff was there for 2 seasons and was sold to make way for Shevchenko and Robben was sold to Real Madrid after they decided to buy everyone Dutch. Pretty sure Robben was still at Chelsea when Jose got sacked the 1st time.

Well I suppose we’ll have to agree to disagree there then. It’s difficult to use the superlative “exciting “ for another team, particularly Chelsea, but it’s hard to deny it if you appreciate a team that steamrolls opposition early doors, then utterly destroys them by picking off their mistakes when they’re chasing a game, all whilst stifling their own creativity.

This is where, I believe, the fallacy has sprung from. His teams don’t make it a spectacle for the neutral, they make it a spectacle for their own fans. The amount of smug chatter I had to endure from Chelsea fans at the time was nauseating. I can guarantee you they were excited by the Football they played.

And I’m excited by the Football we are currently playing too. How could you not be?

This - whilst watching Kane bang them in and Son dribble past 7 outfield players to score, Aurier's goal against Man Utd was the one that I enjoyed the most watching. Slicing teams open with quick, incisive passing.

His teams did it really well in 2003 when Porto beat Celtic in the final and also in 2010 when Inter beat Bayern Munich

I will never forget those games and not for any exciting, stirring reasons!

Two of the most anti-football performance I’ve ever had the misfortune to watch and he’s had plenty plenty more...

Don’t get me wrong I’ve got huge respect for him and he’s one of the greats but to label his teams exciting is to put it mildly, absolute bollox.

The 2003 was one of the most interesting finals of EL (then uefa cup). Both teams played very well. The game was open and uncertain up until the end.

That Porto team was very attack minded. Lost of players that went to be very well known throughout Europe.

From memory I’ve never seen so much time wasting and the use of the 'dark arts' that night was a sight to behold

I could also be completely wrong but I remember Porto sitting for a vast majority of the game and Celtic playing all the football!

Seems for a coach of Jose's defensive reputation we have signed an awful lot of attack minded players, Doherty & Reguilon attacking full backs, Bale, Gedson, Bergwijn attacking midfield/wide players, Vinicius hopefully goal coring striker, even PEH on occasions seems to be playing more advanced than some thought he would. Wonder how much input João Sacramento has on his older boss.

Whilst Aurier's goal was great, I think I enjoyed even more watching United's shitshow defending with Maguire pulling Shaw down to the ground to allow Ndombele to belt it in. That was real entertainment, and surely entertainment is what football is all about ;)

At this stage and considering I’ve been a fan since I can remember, I’d take winning over anything else on the pitch.

nothing less tbh, I want to see spurs win titles and trophies.

Think we need to calm down. Everton wasn't that long ago. We set ourselves up for this every time. The international break has come at the worst time especially with the momentum we were building. I'm more confident of top 4 and a cup win than I was a few weeks ago though.
