Cannot see Chelsea dealing with us even if it is a loan. I'd be shocked if they allowed Rudiger to come to Spurs. Hope we are not wasting efforts on this - Giroud was not going to be allowed to come last year. Why would this be any different?

Skriniar played today, so that does not look great although he did not last the 90, so there's still hope as coaches generally do not lift CB's in whom they have confidence.

Demiral would be very promising, but no indication whatsoever that Juve will let him go.

Wonder if Real Madrid or PSG have any quality that is surplus to requirement?

If our bid is currently £40mio and they want £45-£46 (€50m) I could see this still a chance of happening with a bit of negotiation.

Maybe wishful thinking....

Still seems weird to me that we’ve seemingly been that close in terms of valuation and yet we haven’t blinked or moved on. He’s either the only one we’re interested in, or there’s more to the deal which is making things more complicated. Eriksen maybe? Brozovic?

This won't be whats stopping the deal surely.

You pay it. Simple.

I agree, but I also don't know our current offer is (itk saying £40mio is our max offer), or what they want for him

To be fair, £40mio is a fairly big offer for any player at the moment.

I think he would improve our defence but believe he can play DM too? I can't help but feel a significant injury to Højbjerg and our season could fail to reach its potential. I don't want to have the winks-sissoko pivot again!

here’s my morning optimism

if we’re the more desperate to buy we will up the bid

If they’re more desperate to sell they will drop the amount

Either way we get the player ???

of course neither May happen but got to keep today interesting! Happy transfer deadline day!
