Think we can all agree that if we can beat Chelsea with a second string side in the busiest week of the footballing calendar year, there’s absolutely no need whatsoever to be wasting cash on another striker. (y)

Will be honest, thought we needed to win within the 90 as I had zero confidence in the penalty shootout with who Chelsea had on the field in terms of penalty takers.

Surprised Werner didn’t take one. He was penalty taker for Leipzig if I remember correctly. Would have big asks of his mentality if that was our striker.

Lampard said post match that Werner had been suffering with cramp otherwise he’d have taken one.

Was it because his assistants wouldn't shut up?

I know thats what started the rift with Klopp .

Get the impression his bench is full of Chelsea wide boys
I definitely got the impression Jose was pissed off about something that someone on their bench said.

Funnily enough, it appears he is starting to change the mindset of the fans as well as the players.
I want us to be the club where he finally gets a dynasty rather than a layover.

I have thought the “must play good football” spurs stuff has been a myth for years, I want to win by all means tbh. I’ve seen many teams be nasty break the rules and be far more appreciated that the rule playing good footballing teams spurs have produced in the 30 years I’ve been supporting.
Let’s do what it takes to win, Jose is the man to teach us this imo

I wonder if Dele holidaying with the likes of Maddison doesn't help his cause?

Jose became quite paranoid about his players being too close to other teams players (Casillas).

Not saying Dele is dishing out secrets but he does seem to be very social and heavily around that scene that seems to be very immature.

Compare it to the Argentine boys and Dier who were going out doing paddleboarding and stuff.

It's a very good point actually and the perfect comparison.

Dele and Dier as we know were always the best of mates. Whilst I'm not suggesting they're not still close, we're not seeing the little social media bits and bobs of them together like we used to. The fact that Dele went on that - let's be honest here - kids holiday (with them all wearing all those nonsense clothes etc as well), while Eric went away with a bunch of the foreign lads and was pictured doing watersports etc...

It's a great metaphor for how their careers and attitudes have gone. Dier - you can see it in every interview - is desperate to be a winner. He may not have the same natural talent as Dele, but his work ethic and determination to make the most of his career is obvious. Dele on the other hand, just seems to want to enjoy his life as much as possible while he's young, and rely on his prodigious natural talent to carry him through.

You don't have to be a genius to know which one Jose will favour, which one he will rely on in the crunch times.

Held on the ball for too long a few times in the first half, but he contributed a lot in and out of possession (even goal aside).

The way he chased back at times, I was worried he wouldn't last more than 60 minutes (I think he made one tackle about 25 yards from our goal after a 60-70 yard sprint).
He was much more effective in the second half as the rest of the team joined him in pressing and he had more support.

Also loving that Mourinho called out the FA and how they don't give a shit about the welfare of the players. 4 games in 8 days. 7 games in 15 days.

I do wonder how Dele is reacting at home after this. Surely this would make you second guess your lack of application?

We need to hold some players back from the internationals, it's ridiculous that they're going to go off and play potentially 3 more matches with their countries.
I said same thing. Do what Man City and the others do, just throw a sickie.
