José can rotate more once we’re in group matches and can afford to draw and even lose a game or two and still qualify.

Not sure if you’ve forgotten the Plovdiv performance already but regardless we don’t have the luxury of not winning at this stage.

That performance was with a strong 11 though & we still struggled. Keep key players on the bench & if needed bring them on like in midweek with Kane.

We needed another striker for this period of matches. We should have brought someone in weeks ago

Its no surprise Sonny plays so much. We cannot afford to leave him out of these games.

Who else other than Kane is going to regularly score for us and with these one off Europa League matches you have to play your best side and get through

This is on Levy/ENIC again, again

Yes the fixture list is an absolute joke but we knew it...

No because the backup striker was for Kane not Sonny.

Didn't see him pull up or anything so hoping that it is a small pull of 2 to 3 weeks.....

I don’t get how people do not see this? We have Stevie, Lamela, Bale who are all there to rotate for Sonny along with Lucas! Not buying a striker yet has no bearing on whether Sonny is fit or not.

But that was my point, if we struggled to get a win with a strong XI, it hardly imbues confidence that we’d achieve it with a weakened one. Some of our better players were going to have to play in those games - unfortunately for us Sonny is now injured (also bare in mind he likely would have been rested for Orient).

in the group stage we will see much more rotation because the need to win is less, I’m sure.

He walked off fine, chatting with Harry. No limp, like you said he didn't pull up. Maybe something didn't feel right when he sat in the dressing room at half time but fingers crossed it's nothing serious. Part of me is (hopelessly optimistically) thinking it's a move by Jose just to nudge Levy over the line with an offensive signing or 2 in case he was getting cold feet.

It is, if ENIC had ambition they would have gone for someone like Bale when they had the chance, he's sitting on Real's bench doing nothing at the moment.
can't believe they are also trying to spend another 40-50m for Skriniar

But Son played as the No. 9 against Shkendija, that can't be ignored. I have to agree that if we'd sorted the striker earlier in the window it would have allowed for greater rotation during this insane fixture congestion. We knew it was coming and did not adequately prepare for it IMO, that's a fair criticism of how this transfer window has been managed.

Because Son is a backup striker and always has been under Poch and Jose, despite that though Bale would have played some mins if he was fit between the game on Thursday and today.

Son had played every single minute of the season leading up to his hamstring injury. Every single minute. Yes he's the backup striker, but the point is that he shouldn't be! At least not to the extent where he's run completely into the ground.

Will we actually wait until Kane and Son are both injured until we get a striker? How much more obvious does it get?

Just hoping it might be mind games with United at the weekend, and two games that Jose might have been tempted to rest him anyway this week.

Knowing our luck though, Son's leg fell off in the changing room at half time or something equally ridiculous.
