There has to be line where it is and isn't a handball. And case to case it's up to the ref. The rule doesn't say that that is a handball when it came from behind

why would it matter if it came from behind? the rule is making your body unnaturally bigger, and also hand/arm is above shoulder level.

you can argue all you like about whether the rule is good or not, but in this case against the current rules its a handball.

The reason this rule is cancer to the game, and why that Scouse **** is full of shit, is because as a player on the ball the rule makes you a completely dumb thick **** if you try score a goal rather than flicking it at someones arm. Any any utter donkey is capable of hitting someones arm from a yard away, it's takes no skill. So you've made the game dogshit and unskilled.

Harsh rule but correctly applied.

The game should've been killed off long before then. We were walking a tightrope as long as it remained 1-0. We can fu@king bitch and moan all we want but it doesn't change anything. Couldn't convert our chances. Couldn't deal with Carroll when he came on.

And Dier is still a complete and utter waste of fu@king space. Offers absolutely zero. Missed an open header. Can't pass, can't tackle, has the mobility of a London bus. A liability. Every opponent will clearly target him. Useless.

I'm still shaking with rage. I have to make dinner now and I'm afraid I'm going to cut my fingers off with the chopping knife.

Football is dead. Cancel this season and don't restart before this shit is dealt with

Never have the words 'We Were Robbed' been so apt in all the years I've followed football. I reckon we got screwed three ways in the build up to that pen .... Fucked if you can fight that kind of incompetence.

VAR has made the game demonstratively worse. Millions of pounds spent to implement a system that is making the game unwatchable, the geniuses at FIFA continue their amazing record of improving the game.

I absolutely agree. Replay review has ruined every game it’s entered. American football is irreparably broken, after every “big play” you must look first to the referee to see if you should celebrate or not. It’s ruined sports, fans need to learn to live with missed calls to avoid the spectre of plays being erased by the eye in the sky hanging over the game.

The only thing we can hope for is this absolutely charges up the side and we see a seriously pissed off team against Chelsea. They will obviously be disappointed, but you know they all must be as infuriated as we are.

Mourinho: "It's easy to be zen when you've snuck off from the game early to shit in the refs kit bag."

Don’t worry about carving out chances now, may as well just do a dummy and flick ball directly up into opposition arm each time near box. Five pens a game, easy.

Not for Spurs mate, we're the wrong type of football club!! Here's a question for you to ponder, why is it that clubs wearing red get preference?!!

Call it bias, but the ref was wanting to give Newcastle a free kick everytime they went over. Never was a free kick in the first place, bloke just ran into PEH and not even going for the one-two.
Amazing that how we saw the line being lined up, it was showing offside, but they worked it to him being onside where we didn’t see that on the screens.

VAR isn’t ruining the game, it’s shit officials, shit interpretation of what is and isn’t handball

Been a long time since I felt this deflated after a game. I'm not even that angry or upset. They've reduced the game to luck.
That's exactly my feelings. It just creates a feeling of deadness. Same with marginal offsides, because there is no way that a player can avoid giving away a handball in certain circumstances, similarly there is no way for a player to check there run if 1cm will result in an offside. And these are over two rules which exist to 1) Stop the game being a basketball match and at times using hands to gain an unfair advantage 2) To stop people goal hanging. The applications of these rules now go way beyond that, and are framed from an officiating standpoint not the intent of the law.

Worst part is that I can remember at least 3 occasions where Newcastle players looked to have handballed it and play continued.

That lost two points could completely derail the season. Instead of 6 points and sitting in the top 4, you have 4 points going into Old Trafford, where if you lose, you have 4 points from 4 games and are in the bottom half of the table with a slew of brutal fixtures in November/December. Totally changes the trajectory of the season for the club and Mourinho.
