There was an incident near the start of the game. The ball ricocheted and hit a Newcastle players hand just outside their area. No handball. But that's handball against dier? The rules are an absolute disgrace

Fuck VAR. I thought that was a top example of game management. We could have had another couple, but we looked so comfortable to see the game out. Really feel for Jose and the players after that.
Agree but we needed to be more clinical. There was always a risk of something like that happening or a set piece when Carroll came on. The VAR decision is a joke but we should have been 3-0 up.

For everyone saying we got what we deserved for not killing the game, you really don’t get it.

No one deserves that kind of decision.

Yep- we looked steady for most the game. Given the unfairness of how VAR is being applied, teams now need a two goal lead to see out a game against weak opposition, because anything unfair or unreasonable can happen

If you have that much possession, that many chances and don’t take them, especially in the first half, then you leave yourself open to heartbreaking scenarios like the stupid decision at the end that loses you the points.

kane was best player in first half but I second half he missed 3 good chances with scuffed shots
kane could have had 5

Unless it was an injury, saw no sense in taking Son off at half time with being only 1-0 up. Can understand Mourinho wanting to rest players with the schedule we have but I'd have given him another 15-20 minutes and left things unchanged to see if could carry on from where we left off in the first half and grab another goal.

Absolutely agree with you. I hope it was just a strange substitution.

This is killing the game. We played a great first half, one our best under Mourinho and it ends like this with VAR being the main talking-point.

Frustrating that we still struggle with being effective – should have been three up after that first half, and the quality was lowered drastically after Son went off.

On the penalty desicion: Dier gets slightly pushed in the back, and when you're jumping like that, you have no control over the arm whatsoever. Carroll literally headed the ball directly into his arm.. Absolutely ridiculous.

you just fucking KNEW one of those handball decisions were going to be given against us - absolute shit show, fuck off.
We had one given against us last week too. With the non-red card last week, the bullshit offside goal decision, the pen last week, and then that goal there where about 3 things should have gone against them, we've copped an absolute reaming from VAR. It's fucken atrocious

Hope everyone starts chip it into defenders hands from now on. We gonna have 3 penalties a game soon when teams realize that's the most effective.

It's not VAR for fuck sake, it's the pile of shite handball law.
Fuck sake, we should just remove the stupid VAR ruling altogether and let referees take the responsibility. They are just a bunch of officials who hold no integrity whatsoever now. The technology is not even accurate, but the inconsistency is making the whole thing so bias, more so than a human would. It is an insult to mankind intelligence and empathy. Whoever came out of VAR really should be hanged. Because the repercussions of all these wrong rulings of results have definitely caused the deaths of many more, especially in the betting of this sport.

Players are going to end up breaking their arms as they be sliding into tackles or jumping with arms behind back...wont have time to asjust their body when they hit the ground!

Don't talk rubbish, Newcastle did nothing other than defend and that can happen and 1 nil wins happen or at least use to. We were screwed by tech and dumb refs.
They do, but with so many chances we should have been further ahead on this occasion. There's also no excuse for not fighting to the death. You can't change the rules, you can change your attitude

So even to rub it in as I didn't notice first of all, it hit his back and then onto his arm

Bullshit rule. The fact it went against us makes me so fucking mad, but even if we take it out of context. Say player x heads the ball and it hits player y on the arm. Player y’s arm is away from his body, but he’s jumping (you have to use your arms), and he’s been pushed so has to use his arms to brace a fall or balance himself. Not only that, the ball hits player y’s arm from less than a yard away, and player y has his back turned to everything and doesn’t see the ball at all. Fucking bullshit rule that should be abolished right now, games gone, and every single close match is liable to have this absolutely fucking garbage rule affect a match. DIER CAN DO NOTHING. That alone should make the rule obviously stupid as fuck. Can’t jump with your arms anymore. Can’t run with your arms anymore. Games fucking gone. Fuck this shit.

Been a long time since I felt this deflated after a game. I'm not even that angry or upset. They've reduced the game to luck.
