Crazy that there’s been 10,000 posts in the last couple of weeks on this thread, and only 9,000 of them were golf jokes

What are your realistic expectations for a successful season for GB? I'd say 25 starts and somewhere around 10-15 goals with 7-10 assists would be great. If he got 20 goals, I'd be over the moon

Not too hung up on the numbers per se. As long as he finds good form and is able to drag up the rest of the squad to his level then it'll be successful. Just having him on the pitch will draw special attention to him from the opposition, and it may help Kane gain more freedom as we have 2 genuine world class dangers on the pitch. Saying that I think he'll get 20+ goals.

Totally agree. If we won a trophy with him I thi k he makes all the difference and brings a different mentality.

I saw in one of our best recent seasons we hit 86 premier league goals. Is it a stretch to think that Kane could get 25, Bale 20, Son 20 on their own? Would be unlikely but I also wouldn't be shocked.

These are the numbers from last season all competitions (credit @carpediem991 for his excellent thread)

Total (Combined - Name - Goals - Assists)
30 - Heung-Min Son - 18 - 12
26 - Harry Kane - 24 - 2
14 - Dele Alli - 8 - 6
12 - Lucas Moura - 7 - 5
10 - Serge Aurier - 2 - 8
8 - Erik Lamela - 4 - 4
6 - Christian Eriksen - 3 - 3
6 - Tanguy Ndombele - 2 - 4
5 - Giovani Lo Celso - 2 - 3
4 - Toby Alderweireld - 2 - 2
4 - Moussa Sissoko - 2 - 2
4 - Steven Bergwijn - 3 - 1
3 - Jan Vertonghen - 2 - 1
2 - Eric Dier - 0 - 2
2 - Ryan Sessegnon - 1 - 1
1 - Danny Rose - 0 - 1
1 - Ben Davies - 0 - 1

Basically, anything above 15 combined goals and assists would put him above everyone except Son and Kane if we replicated last season.

Moura, whose spot he will likely take, got 12 combined G+A last season so anything above that is a direct improvement to the team.

Worth noting than Davies and Rose got a combined 2 assists/0 goals last season so Regulion is also an improvement there. He got 3 goals/5 assists on his own last year.

Yeah I'd love to see the same numbers from Lucas (or get near 15) in less time and Bale around Kane/Son. I'd love Bergwijn to match Lucas think they both have a big role to play this season.

Let's not forget the shiny new striker we've been promised as well. There's gonna have to be at least one out, whether it's Lucas, Dele or Lamela.

Looked like he had cut his hair in those videos at the training ground?

Apologies if this has already covered in the last 100 pages

Some of you can be cool and pragmatic about announcing whenever the club feels like it, but for anyone in the PR or journalistic industry can allude to, there is no bigger news value and media traction garnered if the hype of Bale is not followed up with a final announcement after 2 days of media frenzy on his return, especially when that broke on so quickly and materialised.

Striking while the iron is hot is an opportunistic move for media practitioners that can almost guarantee huge returns. The stars have finally aligned again after 7 years, but there is no riding on that wave and instead allowing the interest to cool slightly, the club has fucked it up quite abit TBH in this PR manoevre.

And really, this isn't about fans being spoilt brats or throwing toys out the pram whatsoever. It is really an expectation most would expect the club to be doing if the business-running aspect is being held to such high standard in so many shapes and forms of the club operation.

I honestly suspect that they are not happy with something in the medical.

If we have found something should we go ahead with the transfer?

Love the guy but if he is unable to perform we should pull the plug.

You have absolutely no idea what the hold up has been which means, in turn, you have no idea whether they fucked up or not.

So it's exactly what you say it isn't.

Yeah nobody cares about PR other than the PR industry itself.

Dude, it also depends on public awareness too. If they know then you actually gain more releasing news and then pictures and then interviews and so on as you get the immediate hit and a much longer continuous wave of wanting more content. It's elongating that wave that is key. The first thing they should have done was confirm without confirming so everyone goes mental. And then gone nostalgic with longer content. It's about controlling sentiment. Imagine if they teased a player standing by an empty locker...
