So our next match is against Shkëndija in North Macedonia.

I’ve googled them and they play in Tetovo, which is only about 40 minutes drive from Skopje airport, so thankfully no ridiculous coach journey through the Macedonian mountains which are stunning but a pain in the arse at the best of times.

Tetovo is essentially an Albanian town but in North Macedonia. Half the roads in the city centre are literally made of mud. I’m glad there’s no supporters allowed in because it would be rowdy as hell.

Tetovo is also home to a multi coloured painted mosque which is a stunning gem hidden in quite a drab place.

I feel I’m really outing myself as a full on travel geek with these fixtures but yes I really have been to both Plovdiv and Tetovo ?

Am I the only one who has watched this about 20 times to try and work out if it was a brilliant cool finish or a complete accident

Ultimately, he made the great run to put him in that position to either score by accident or on purpose

For you not aware, we’re facing Macedonian outfit KF Shkendija next week

At the end of the season when Hugo lifts the Europa League trophy they'll refer back to the last ten minutes of this game as the starting point on our path to glory. :)
Well we almost fucked it against Young Boys (phrasing very much intended) and got to the CL quarters so we have previous.

Read a report saying that their ground doesn't meet Uefa guidelines currently so we may have to play at another ground in Macedonia/or a other country ?!

Europa League qualifiers really are a joke.

Shkendija were forced to play Europa games in Skopje last year because their ground wasn't up to scratch. Rosenborg beat them in Skopje in the EL playoffs last season. Hope it's still the same.

Looks like I'll be reposting this every fucking page.

maybe you will. Nobody cares how it works. We paid Premier sport to provide something- they didn't provide it. The logistics are not our concern.

I feel like I only watched 30 mins of that game what with the terrible stream. But it may have served a couple of purposes for Mourinho I hope.
Sissoko cannot be starting or a first choice sub, that GLC + PEH in the middle is the way to go and that Ndombele needs to play a significant role in the side, whether that’s starting or coming on circa 60 mins. I’d like to see Lamela or TN there in as the third midfielder. Both looked good.

GLC I was hoping for more. But he carried it forward well on occasion and from what I saw was a lot more creative than Winks. TN still looks out of shape and overweight but he immediately looks forward to create. Put him in the side regularly as the #10 / furthest forward MF and hope he gets fit. Lamela I also really liked. One of my favorite players. He keeps the ball well and is inventive. I’d be very happy to have him and TN split up the duties for the #10 role. Dele I just don’t see it. Maybe as an alternative to Son, tucked in and letting Reguilon provide the width. I’m optimistic about this season despite witness a pretty dire first half today.

In that case they may move it to the Philip II national stadium in central Skopje which would be far far preferable for the team. There’s actually a chance of a decent hotel there, and max 15 mins to the airport

Just feels like we are in preseason to me. Harry looked the same when we came back from lockdown but after a few games he was up and firing. Lo Celso hasn’t played at all. Ndombele isn’t ready for full matches. I’m actually happy we get these Thursday games right now to knock this competitive rust off.

Can only pray you're right about this cause atm watching the team I love is really really depressing. No fire, no emotions, nothing at all really.

Not sure rusty is the word, we look too placid and disinterested worrying signs and we are in for a difficult season by the looks of it still coys.
