Feel like he would surely be too expensive. Would prefer Wout as he is good with his feet and his height is a built in plan B. Also he doesn't have Ings injury history.

Don't really get this. I mean, I think Ings would be brilliant and would both link up really well with Kane and be an excellent backup, but 40-50 million?! Maybe if he was in his early, or even mid-20s but seems crazy to spend so much money on a 28 year old backup striker.

Surely you either spend big on a younger option who could one day be a potential Kane replacement, or get a cheap older option.

Getting an expensive older option makes no sense and I'd much rather we spend 40 million on a creative midfielder or a really top quality DM.

Shit, if we signed Ings I don't think it'd be safe for me to leave my house. Andover is full of Saints fans.

Interestingly, I live in Southampton, which is full of Spurs fans. There are a fair number of Saints fans but they're easy to spot by the vacant stare and obvious discomfort when walking upright.

I'm from the area as well, there are a few of us for sure! (y)

Not a target man. Not what Jose wants in my opinion. He wants a big tall tough guy, with balls, with aggression. He wants striker Fellaine model please

I highly doubt we're up for Ings. Its clear as day the type of striker jose wants

Before this last season he was averaging 1 goals every 3.5 games in the premier league.

I'm not convinced he's a good use of spending a large sum of money on.

Opinion: In agreement with most here - Ings is a good player coming off a great season, but at the likely price and age I don’t think it makes sense.

I also think he doesn’t add anything “different” enough to make him an impact option for the squad. Personally I’d prefer someone who can offer us something a bit different up top as well for an impact sub.

Would not be happy with Ings. He really is not a £45-50m striker. Just because he's English doesn't mean we should pay a £20m premium for a pretty average striker.

Yeah, that bit of ITK worried me. I would have had an aneurysm if we ended up swapping Ndombele for Ings.

Agreed.

I like the look of the big dutch lad. Think he offers something different and would bully tired defenders, so basically an impact sub.

I can't shake the feeling Ings would flop playing in Mourinho's different system and playing second fiddle to Kane. If his confidence gets shot as a result we've very quickly got another Soldado situation on our hands.

We would have to pay massive fee for Southampton to be tempted imo, personally don’t think we should be spending £40-50m on him, he’s Good don’t get me wrong

"Not even discussable"... give it a rest Ralph - you just sold us your club captain a few weeks ago

Southampton are a selling club. Can't remember them standing firm over the sale of anybody. If the money's right, they'll let him go.

Yea decent player but wouldn't be suited as a squad player and impact sub even though he's so good he would certainly mean we'd play with 2 up top in a number of games so he'd get decent game time just not the regular week in week out 90 mins he needs.

Love him as a player but don't think it is the right move for him or for us so not disappointing if its a no go. Ideally would prefer a strong and quick powerful striker like a Daka or Edouard similar mould to Drogba etc someone who can dominate things up there.
