Is anyone, who's as pessimistic as me, feels that a one-year loan is really bad for us?

Worst case scenario: Bale is as awesome as we all want him to be. Loan finishes, back to Madrid paying 600k a week. We say, we want him permanently!" They say, "see how good he is! You can have him for 600k p/w!" We say, "we can't afford that." Bale's agent says, "Thanks for shop windowing my client, he's going to Utd/City/PSG/Bayern etc. See ya!"

The only way the deal is a long-term benefit is that we have him to for two years, or that we have already negotiated the second year and that it's triggered in the summer if all goes well.

I don't want us to be a stepping stone for Bale to play for someone else, is basically what I'm saying.

If he fires us into the CL again and perhaps even helps us win a cup, 1 season loan is totally fine.

Would be sad to see him leave again, but it would certainly be mission accomplished!

Does the club charge more for a double digit number than a single one when they are printing up shirts?

I have an idea they changed that to make it that more popular players cost more I.e. Son 7 would now be more expensive, unlike the glorious days of ‘Fox 7’ being one of the most cheapest options due to price back then being per letter and number.

Could be wrong though.

I remember 10 years ago Lillywhites at Piccadilly did. 2 Pounds a letter, 4 Pounds a number. A Van der Vaart, Assou-Ekotto or Pavlyuchenko were not affordable there.

Bale and Lamela should have a mini golf tournament or something to decide who gets 11.

Think Bale will take 16

Levy will probably prefer he wear a new number anyway, so people can't just wear their old Bale #11 shirts :greedy:

So for that reason alone, I now think he'll wear #9 :pompous:

Get a marker pen and change the old ‘Bale 3’ jersey to a ‘Bale 9’ and job’s a good ‘un!

Could he wear 29, bit like Defoe with 18 cos he couldn't get the 9 shirt
How did you get to 29? I always thought 18 was because it was 2x no.9s.

Bale trademarked the heart celebration with no.11 on it, or trademarked GB11. A bit like CR7 is a brand. That's why it might be in the contract but at the same time don't think you can change the numbers once the season is up and running.

Anyone know if Bale will have to quarantine like us normal people? Or does he get a special arrangement as an elite athlete?

I’d guess at 2+9 rather than multiplying it. Same works for Defoe’s number.

You could be right

1+8=9
2+9=11

I'm sure there was someone in Italy who had the + on their shirt...

1 + 8 = 9 for Defoe.

2 + 9 = 11 for Bale.

I imagine.
