They had their little setup. They were happy. Every year, Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea in the top four. It worked for them. They had gravitas. Those teams pulled in subscribers.
Then Spurs had the absolute nerve to break up their little clique. And Sky did not. Like. That. We didn't sell as many shirts as Man Utd. We didn't have a supporters club in very country like Liverpool. We weren't supposed to do that. Same reason they were not impressed with City at first (although they seem to be warming to them now their stature is growing).
Of course, the fact that Sky's commentary team usually consist of Paul Merson, Alan Smith, Terry Henry, Ian Wright, Lee Dixon and the ghost of Herbert Chapman doesn't help.
