Am I the only one who cannot understand how loaning out Ndombele is beneficial ? We either keep him and he performs or we sell him and re-invest. Loaning him out may get him off our head for a season but probably keeps him on our payroll.
Perhaps we'll hope for a better transfer landscape next summer with clubs willing to spend more post Covid.

Personally would love it. Eriksen back to his best is exactly what we need. Obviously a question mark over whether he will get there but there's a question mark over every signing.
A motivated Eriksen is probably exactly what we need. I love Christian but at the end, it felt like a break up was needed. There is no chance Eriksen would want to come back. Dragon bringing him up is probably opinion so it’s really not worth discussing.

Plus would free up a non-HG place in the squad. And I guess it would mean we knew where we stood re getting a replacement - a loan-to-buy like Lo Celso, perhaps.

Eriksen coming back would be not hugely different to Klinsmann or Sheringham, but for a lack of success in the move.

There's a big gamble in letting Ndombele go on a loan without an option - we'd have no extra funds (save a freeing of wages/loan fee, perhaps) and his value could diminish further... OR he could be hot property by January.

I'd rather take Modric than Eriken if we're desperate.

Edit: But this is the ITK thread not the Eriksen thread so let's keep it on topic.

Re TN
I believe Trix means ‘Loan with irrevocable purchase’ at end of loan term. DL will NOT loan with open options. It would leave us financially exposed, and not good for our balance sheets.

Milan dreaming, but thus far nowhere near. Our valuations on their ‘aged’ players (with no future sell-ons’ not good for us. Lyon have us tied in on our agreement of purchase. We cannot sell at a lost! Difficult one.

Would a "loan with irrevocable purchase at end of loan" make it easier for someone like Barcelona, who have well documented short term financial issues, to act on their interest? If the future payment is certain, would it allow us to invest in a replacement now ?

We're in big trouble then, because which club is going to spend 42m and 200k a week on TN?

Just amazing that the one time we decide to show ambition in the transfer market that we get it so monumentally wrong it sets the club back profoundly.

I don't understand how we could have been so certain that TN was the correct signing for Poch's all action, all effort, at all times style of play, that we would commit such huge money and contract length. There are so many red flags in his career that point to exactly what's happening now being a likely scenario.

In no way would we loan with obligation we wouldn’t have any money to buy a player he will be here after the window if a club isn’t giving us the money

What IF he wasn't a "Poch signing" ?

We wouldn’t necessarily have the money even if we sold him now as a lot of deals involve x amount over the length of the contract.

Best case scenario is a loan fee and then a fixed amount to purchase him in 12-18 months time... a bit like our deal for Lo Celso.

As per ITK, we can’t accept less that £42m as per our agreement with Lyon. Therefore why are we entertaining offers albeit rejecting them for lower amounts? Surely if it’s £42m + then there’s no ‘buyer’, just an interested party (who’s taking the piss).
