I've tried to get the hang of his name but, man, I'm really struggling. Pavlyuchenko I had covered in no time and I'm usually pretty good for getting it but there's just not enough keys on my keyboard.

So it's Hobo now.

I like Hobo, he looks keen, pulls faces like he's tweaking or something.

Perhaps suggest the same to the Spurs media guy who also clearly struggles when watching his interviews....

Looks a good upgrade to Sissoko. Despite all the talk about his passing being dodgy when we were linked to him, I didn't see anything to be concerned about. Seemed to have a decent touch and gave it off quickly and progressively.

And that's a massive difference between signing players from PL and abroad. Hojbjerg is underwhelming because you see some salty Soton fans on twitter saying he's bad and Gabriel is fantastic because you saw only 5 min compilations.
Hojbjerg from Ligue 1 would be seen by everyone as very good transfer and if he was not 15 but 40 it would be TOP transfer

Can we call him back? Would he be eligible for European games?
I doubt we can get him back now. With Ndombele being Ndombele personally I don't think Winks, Hojbjerg and Sissoko as true CMs is enough for what will be a long hard season. I know Gedson and Lo Celso are double pivot options but it's far from ideal imo and Sissoko will end up playing a ton of games when he's nowhere near good enough to do so.

This is what I fear and see as derailing our season,PEH injured, Sissoko fills the whole and we start to slide back down the table after making a decent start

We do have Harvey White who is 18 (19 next month) and only a year younger than Skipp who Jose seems to rate?

So he lost his place at the end of the season....

Look i think he's a good signing, go back if you want I defended it.

Just not an exciting signing. Not one that screams " were ambitious and want to win things." No it screams we don't want to spend a lot of money and hes coming to the end of his deal.
Depends what excites you I suppose. Signing a player that fits exactly what we need and will vastly improve us excites me!

Fair point.

I'm happy with the signing , its sensible should we be with our billion pound stadium, mega posh sponsors , having been champions league finalist and regulars be aiming for the very best dm or one that fits the bill because he is in the last year of his deal.

Lots of people giving me silly ratings for my comments yesterday but I stand by every word of it. Look at Chelsea buying some absolutely sensational players, arsenal have invested overly in willian but they clearly feel he can take them to another level and now in Gabriel who is really highly rated. City are city but again they are getting deals done and Liverpool could be signing the sensational thiago from all accounts. United have been trying to spend the best part of 100 million on one player and you know they're going to strengthen. Have I missed anyone? These are our rivals arent they?

At what point do us fans get the carrot and throw it back at enic? Yes corona, but the whole footballing world faces this, yes the stadium, yes net spend, yes ffp. All excuses. At what point do these owners show the ambition needed to take us to trophies? All these excuses are fine but if all around are spending eventually we either match that or we fall

We get charged top level prices, we have this top level stadium so why don't we get top level signings? Need i remind everyone that only in january did they not sign a backup striker despite all logic telling them otherwise only to massively regret it.

And what happens if we dont strengthen. Not do the minimum but actually invest and grow. No champions league next year probably means kane will want out, maybe son too. Then what? They might spend the profits? How exciting. Not.

It baffles me so many are so defensive of owners who have brought no trophies and show no sign of really wanting them either.

Sorry for the long post but I dont understand how people cant see whats happening here? Signing a player 6 months ago nobody would have considered because lets be honest hes cheap doesn't scream ambition does it? And by the way i haven't seen one Southampton fan say he played as a dm. Thats not to say he can't but from all accounts he isnt the specialist dm people are saying. Yet .

Edit

On further reflection the scum are selling lacazette and mainland niles to pay for it so I'm full of shit.

But still id like us to match Chelsea and go got it.

We are the underdog of the top 6, only way to change that for ENIC is through stadium income, and well we have none at the moment.
They aren't spending their own money no, and aren't taking up loans to sign players. Their policy have always been to spend what we can, and at the moment there's not much to spend until fans can get into the stadium and it can be used for other activities.
We were around 100m net spend last season. The season before we had serious delays on the stadium build and no takers for the naming rights. They held back on the spending, delivered world record profit level which pleased the banks enough to give us terms on the loans that pretty much secure us for 50 years going forward and remove any risk in the stadium project for the club.

We aren't comparable with the size of United, the rich owners of City and Chelsea. Liverpool have 100m CL income that we don't and are riding a wave that will generate alot of money. Arsenal ... they are a bit meh, they are signing a 26m defender from the french league, it's not exactly something to cry about.

Expiring contract shaved off 15m on Højbjerg's transfer, but there's no 35m midfielder i'd rather sign in the Premier League. There are some 80m ones, but that's just silly. From what I can tell he's a great signing for us, one that Mourinho wanted, he has the intelligence and attitude that Spurs have always missed. Mourinho is shaping the side in his image.

Not sure about this or it being anything to do with which league he has come from.

Think people are in the fence because he wasn’t a particular standout performer in a mediocre team - in this case Southampton that happen to be in the PL and the feeling is we have signed a solid pro vs. A player that will individually excite albeit one that addresses a clear deficiency And may well be a good cog in the machine

Head and shoulders above Sissoko. The difference in the game when he came on was noticeable.

Understand it was just a friendly, but I really am starting to believe he's a big part of what we've been missing.

Højbjerg been talking to danish media while away on national duty. Nothing sensational but thought i'd share its essens if anyone interested..

- Talked to Eriksen before joining. Eriksen said really positive thinks about spurs
- Talked to Mourinho as well - good dialog. Nice when such an ambitious coach want's you
- Wanted to join a club were he could play higher level football with better players
- He told southampton that he would not extend his contract. That's why he lost his armband and was benched post corona

forgive the spelling...
