Not sure who the starting trialist was but thought he played well, BLF at Dm looked really good for me and etete despite the missed chances did ok, a very strange game score line felt a bit harsh imo anyway good run out for the boys class news about Devine to!

My thoughts on the match:

Positives:
-Trialist [RB/CB] wearing #2 played great at RB and CB, but especially at RB. Would love to see us sign him. I agree with the Tanganga comparisons in terms of ability and physical build.
-BLF [CB/CDM] was impressive at CB and CDM. Could use some bulking up but he's a great technical player with a strong positional sense. Ready for senior football.
-Elliot Thorpe [CM/AM]played very well. Did very well linking up play and creating chances. Cut well into the box for a great goal and came close to scoring a second with a nice header.
-Markanday [LB] proved he is a strong attacking player, but not a defender. His poor defending alongside Okedina resulted in several goals but he did well to cut inside from left back to score a nice goal and created a few chances. Hopefully this is the end of his left-back experiment and he can go back to playing further up the pitch. [He drifted from left back into a more central midfield position a few times and actually looked sharp there]
-Poch Jr [RW] played well. He was not afraid to take on his man and as a result created some great chances from RW. Was one of the only bright sparks of the second half.
-Kazaiah Sterling [ST] was a decent performer in the first 45. He fired off a few good shots he created on his own but was massively let down by service of the players around him.
-Georgiou [LW] played in the first half and was decent, but not great. He had several fancy dribbles and one or two decent crosses but I felt his performance was massively dragged down by Markanday, who he was consistently trying to help out in defense on the left. I wish Georgiou had played LB instead, or at least played with a proper LB so he could put in a confident attacking performance without worrying about bailing out Markanday every possession.

Negatives:
-Okedina [CB] and was completely out of his depth. Extremely poor tonight and struggled technically and defensively. Was responsible for several goals. Worst player on the pitch until Skinner came on.
-Skinner [CDM] was the worst player on the pitch when introduced. He played CDM [which he's normally a CB I believe] but lost possession nearly every time he had the ball. Poor first touch and passing. Was a major reason we couldn't get into the game in the second half and were consistently defending.
-Etete [ST] looked sloppy and had poor finishing tonight. Hopefully this was an off game for him as it seems our well-informed academy posters on here seem to rate him highly but he missed an empty net and hit the post on a tap in from a great Poch Jr cross.
-Shilow Tracey [RW] reminds me of Sissoko. He's a big athletic lad who can carry the ball down the pitch on the break, but has very poor technical ability.
-Roles [AM] struggled to make an impact on the game. Was rightfully subbed off at the break.
-Marsh [CM/RB] featured the whole match and also did not make an impact against the club he was a regular for last season. I was disappointed with him because I expected him to be a leader for us on the pitch but he was largely just a passenger.
-The second trialist [CM] had a short cameo of about 12 minutes in midfield but didn't make an impact.

Regarding the WindyCOYS deleted tweet that @Saoirse posted, Windy tweeted that the second trialist to feature was ex-Manchester United academy player Dion McGhee [a website reported this morning that he is going on trial with us], but it clearly wasn't as Dion had posted a picture of himself on Twitter mid match :ROFLMAO:

The identities of the two trialists remain unknown.

Watched most of the game last night but was in and out. Feel a lot of slap judgements were being made during the first game of a preseason match, but I'm not surprised this team didn't put in a great performance.

I have no idea whose idea it was to have Markanday LB and Georgiou, as the former is a lot more creative and tricky. Otherwise glad that the only players in the side that I think 'may' have a future with us, in Markanday, Thorpe and BLF had good games. Roles is the only one who I believe is talented enough to play for us that didn't have a particualrly good game.

Shame on Okedina though, he had a good year last year hopefully he has another, and the bit about Skinner doesn't surprise me. I've been saying since the day I first seen him he appears out of his depth with us, and I'd much rather move an u18 like John or Craig to play CM or Muir at CB so we can promote Dorrington or BBW to the u18s. Just a waste of our time and his.

I'm having a really hard time identifying the defensive trialist from last night. He's black, around 5'10-5'11 and shows all the hallmarks of having come through a tier 1 or 2 academy. I'd be majorly surprised if he'd previously been in an academy lower than that because his fundamentals are too good and his comfort dealing with the movement of lads at this level was very telling. A kid with those talents would not be either (a) a free agent, or (b) hard to recognise. He also looked pretty sharp in terms of fitness which suggests that he's not long been released from a professional program. That narrows it down to someone who has been recently released from a Premier League or Championship academy or U23s squad. I've scoured all of the Released lists and haven't been able to find anyone that fits the bill. The closest I got was Keenan Ferguson of Sheffield United but I'm 99% sure its not him from comparing the two physically. I'm out of ideas.

Do we know that he is English? Not from abroad?

No, but he was communicating with his teammates fine and seemed to have no trouble adapting to English football. He looked very much like someone used to playing in this kind of game. This leads me to believe that he is English or at least experienced in English football.

Only guy I could find that matches your description is Marcel Lavinier from Chelsea.

The kit looks alright.

Always a big ask kids vs Adults. Look forward to watching it later though.

You're right. I had my doubts about the new design but its certainly not terrible and once the action starts its not distracting.

Does a trialist have to be a free agent?

Not necessarily but I have reasons to think that he is. I've already said he looks quite polished and as such strikes me as a product of a tier 1 or 2 academy. Tier 1 and 2 academies are not likely to offer us one of their under contract players on trial. Therefore I'd deduce that he's either free agent, from abroad but with surprising familiarity with British football or from a tier 3 or 4 academy. If he's from a 3 or 4 academy then he's very good and I'd have expected to have heard of him.

The thing you often see, even with potentially very good, tier 3 and 4 youngsters is that they're accustomed to physical duels. They have experience at playing against technically weak but physically strong or quick players. They're not used to the movement and crispness of passing that they would encounter against tier 1 and 2 players. That's the most obvious thing I see when a tier 3 or 4 kid is up against kids form higher up. It takes a while to adjust to the different style. I did not see that in last night's trialist. I'm convinced he has been playing against tier 1 and 2 opponents for at least three years.

Could the trialist have been Richard Nartey?
