decent backup, a backup for a backup even.

think it works...

- your first choice

- your young up and coming

- your veteran backup

Hart will not only help in the first team, but in training too. with younger players having someone else to look up too.

good move. free transfer. even if he doesn't see much action, i think its a good way forward.

75 caps for England. Won the league twice, FA Cup twice. Speaks well. Not timid. Hates losing. Perfect back up keeper.

Although he has an impressive record, it is now that counts. Ok as an emergency back-up / coach for the youngsters.

I will never forget him leaping over the hoarding at Wembley to retrieve the ball to take a quick goal kick after we scored the 91st minute winner against Burnley. He had spent the whole of the previous 90 minutes wasting absolutely every second he could.

I guess that is the sort of tactical intelligence that JM likes in his players, even though it backfired spectacularly on Burnley on that occasion.

I think as long as he is 3rd choice, It's a good piece of deal. But if he is our second choice back up for Lloris, I think that will be problematic ...

I assume whoever is performing better in training will be 2nd choice. Get this rigid 2nd/3rd choice thing out of your thinking imo.

And we would love it if our keeper did it.

Shay Given on Talksport just now said Spurs have signed a great keeper with something to prove who will push Hugo all the way (it was Hart that took Given's place in the Man City team) Given was 33 when that happened (same age as Hart is now) I'm prefering to take the words from someone who knows Hart than the know it all collective on SC who've poo poo'd this signing :cautious:

These third choice keepers live a good life don't they? 30k a week and you're pretty much guaranteed to never play.

The 3rd choice keeper at a top prem club is the secret best job in the world. You just get to live as a prem footballer front row seat at all the games, huge salary. With none of the pressure or anything of having to perform in front of thousands of people.

It's a dream job.

Shouldn't that be 1st choice then? As if they perform better than lloris in training they should start! So no set 1st 2nd or 3rd.?

Apparently getting half his desired salary to come here. Whatever the circumstances with him being a free agent etc. that's a really good sign imo and shows the right attitude.
