While I may be wrong, I don't think so.

If Wolves win the Europa they'll get a CL place but we'll still get Europa. I don't think a country loses a Europa place if a team from that country wins the CL; it just gets an additional CL place. While I'm guessing here, it might also mean that we get through to the Europa group stage instead of playing a qualifier, because Wolves, who would finish in 6th and would have gone through to the group stage, will instead be in the CL.

I think the only way that we can fail to get Europa is if the Goons win the FA Cup.

I thought so too. But you can only have a max of 7 places in European competition, that is spread over both CL and EL. If we get 5 in the CL we forfeit a EL place.

When we had 5 in the CL in 17/18. The gooners and UTD won FA and league cup in 17. Gooners finished 5 and UTD 6 in the same season. Everton finished 7th but did not go into Europa.
Then how come they played in the group stage?

So if the maximum is 7 clubs, then isn't the worry that we finish 6th but Wolves win Europa AND Arsenal win the FA Cup?

I can't find the article that mentioned 7 as a max. And since we had 5 in the CL and 3 in Europa in the 17/18 season, I would say that 7 is FAKE NEWS! ?

Doesn’t make sense because of a Europa league team won it but finished say 8th and a team in 10th won the fa cup and say a team in 11th won the league up then the top 4 would be champions league 5th Europa and the cup winners 1 champions league and two Europa meaning 8 teams ?

I just tried to find out with the help of my friend Google.

Wiki says that the maximum number of clubs that a country can have in Europe is eight. The UEFA Europa League regulations (2018-21 cycle) agree. The actual number of clubs representing each country is based on the association's coefficient:
"UEFA calculates the coefficient of each club and association each season based on the clubs' results in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. The season coefficients from the five most recent seasons are used to determine thepositions of the associations in the access list (association coefficient....."

I can't see which associations qualify to have one, two or three clubs in the Europa League, but assume from how english clubs have done in the last few years that England is one of the associations that get three.

So it seems that Wolves can probably go right ahead and get a CL spot by winning the EL and we'll still get a Europa place.

Thats not correct. If we come 7th and arsenal lose FA Cup final then we are in 100%. I think only difference is if wolves won europa we wouldnt have to play the qualifying rounds of Europa. As our league would only be sending 2 teams to it instead of 3

We'd still have to play qualifying rounds, it makes no difference at all. Rather than move the English team up from qualifying to the group stage, they do it based on the access list - so the best nation to have its top side enter qualifying (France I think) goes up to the group stage, then somebody from the Czech Republic or wherever starts in Q4 rather than Q3, etc.

"To be clear. The max number of teams in Europe from the Premier League is not 7. The max than can qualify **from domestic competition** is 7. This season, it's possible 8 teams from the Premier League will qualify for Europe. (The absolute max is 9)."

Relax I got this.
Chelsea will beat Wolves on Sunday.
We will beat Crystal Palace. ergo we qualify whatever the result of the FA Cup.

Chelsea will beat Arsenal in any case so even if we don't do better than Wolves on Sunday we qualify in 7th.

This is not hope and guesswork but deep analysis using my secret system.

So as it stands
If Wolves beat Chelsea we'll stay 7th and Chelsea may lose out on CL if Leicester get at least a draw with United
If we finish 7th we are in a EL qualifying position
If Chelsea beat Arsenal in the cup we qualify for EL but
If Arsenal beat Chelsea in the cup we lose our EL spot to them
If Chelsea beat Wolves they cement CL and we can go 6th with a win or a draw
If we are 6th we definitely qualify for EL
So what do we want?
Chelsea to beat Wolves and Get CL ensuring we get EL with a draw or
Wolves to beat Chelsea so they lose CL, it doesn't help us but, well you know, fuck them!

The less qualifying rounds we play, the better.

If we won all 7 games we would do it imo. I can't see Leicester getting more than 10 points with their fixtures.

Must say I called this one pretty spot on. Think they ended up getting 9 points post-restart.

If only we'd beaten Bournemouth (fuckers got relegated anyway) and CP

Considering how woeful we have been this season and all the injuries and challenges we have had. To still finish in the top 6 is quite amazing.

So are we at the point that it doesn't matter what Wolves do in the Europa. If they win it, Liverpool, Man C, Man U, Chelsea and Wolves get Champs, and Leicester and Spurs get straight Europa as long as Arsenal lose the cup. If Arsenal win the cup then they and Leicester get straight Europa and we get sent into qualifying (and if Wolves don't win Euorpa they get nothing)?

Job done. About as good as we could have realistically achieved with the start we had and the injuries throughout Jan/Feb.

Hopefully we can win the europa next season now

I thik we get a euro place because city won the league cup and therefore didn;t need the europa league place that comes with that
