I was annoyed with him at the time but 99/100 that mistake doesn’t get punished by an unstoppable rocket goal of the season contender.

Yeah, but overall it was a poor performance. There were other moments of poor concentration and of course the 20 wasted crosses.

He's just not good enough for us.

I at least have one episode of All or Nothing I can look forward to watching now.

Happy we won obviously but this was mid-table stuff. Two bald men fighting over a comb.

Mate Aurier did mess up defensively..it was his donkey touch that led to Lacezzete lashing it in...

He made another hash somewhere as well .
Thing is we have 2 bang average full backs who both have no quality on the ball or ability to beat a man and yet its aurier who gets slammed week in week out. 2 attacking full backs will go a long way to transforming this team next season.

Davies is a better all round footballer/defender than Aurier will ever be.

I actually like Davies. He's a competent full back. Could we do better? Sure...but a decent option.

Aurier is a liability defensively. Yes sometimes he has some bright moments and you think there's some light at the end of the tunnel and then he does something absolutely baffling moments later.

He gets into decent positions when attacking but he's extremely wasteful. So very erratic in the attacking sense.

Defensively he's just not good. Lacks concentration, lunges in...makes poor decisions and all round has poor defensive judgement.

I've never been so critical about any of our players but he absolutely is the weak link in this team.

That tackle he made on Aguero back in February sums him up to a tee..and VAR awarded the pen two minutes later.

And Davies tackle that gave a penalty to leipzig

Aurier made the mistake in the lead up to the goal, not Davies, that is why he is justifiably getting stick. Davies might not be a superstar, but nowhere near the car crash that is Aurier

I'd be grateful if you could identify all the goals which you can blame Aurier for since mourinho took over that give credence to him being a car crash.

Aurier’s yellow card was also as a result of losing the ball and then trying to rugby tackle the Arsenal player... he’s crazy and not in a good way.

He also had a dodgy under hit header back to Lloris which was nearly intercepted by Tierney.

Davies is a decent defender but offers very little going forward as he doesn’t have the legs to a) run forward and b) get back.

Aurier’s just a walking talking disaster.

Funny thing is trippier got the same stick last season playing in the same position, so maybe if we concentrate on identifying all the weak areas that expose other players on the pitch instead of scape goating one player that would be more constructive.

I thought Kane was a class above today and credit to the arsenal GK, on another day he could have had a hatrick. For me every time he got the ball he was a threat, people will disagree but he was immense, however there were alot of players who were not good enough.

Other positive was Lucas on the left, he is frustrating, he has the ability and pace to destroy teams but he is just so dam inconsistent.

Sissoko and Davies were both solid but Sissoko in possession is not fun, maybe with winks playing better or Tanguy some how pushed in it could work but I have serious doubts.

I worry about this team, son is far better up top but he is not a team player, we have so many gaping holes but the clearest ones are so obvious.

Tanguy and sess need to play more, Skipp needs more of a chance but how do we fit them in without shipping goals is another matter.

We do not have a real central midfielder or a competent right back and we miss a creative force out wide there are 5 players we have failed to replace - eriksen, dembele, wanyama, walker and rose. All of those on 2017/2018 form would walk into this team. Our recruitment has been disastrous from Sissoko onwards.

I personally think Jose is working wonders with this team but what I am basically saying is that our players are not good enough. Lucas, son (on current form), Sissoko, winks (on current form), aurier, lamela, Dele (on current form) are all not good enough for a top 4 team.

We need to be absolutely vicious in the transfer market and have an overhaul. Arsenal were there for the taking today, we won and the only positive you can take other than this is that arsenal have more problems than us.

If we don't do good business in the market we won't get near top 4 for a long time.

This season is over, get ndombele, sess, Skipp playing every game, at the very least we might have a better idea of how many players we need.

Watching spurs at the moment is not enjoyable and let's face it, it hasn't been for a long time. At least we are reasonably solid now but it is painful to watch.

We have one (not good enough) RB, one defensive midfielder (19 years old) and only one centre forward. That's abysmal for a team that was considered a consistent top four team.

How long before Jose and Harry walk?

I see there are plenty of flattering marks for some who were as average as they usually are yesterday

Hugo didn’t have much to do despite all their possession but made a couple of saves and kicked well

Aurier was an accident waiting to happen defensively and it cost us once, and he lost Auba when he hit the post - his forward play was unproductive again

Toby and Sanchez did pretty well, as did Davies who was a bit exposed at times

Winks had a decent game, on the ball. Off it he was caught out a number of times. Ill judged attemptsat interceptions, easily dribbled. GLC worked hard too, but was stifled by his defensive duties and clearly needed to be subbed earlier.

Sissoko runs a lot.

Moura looked better from the left but wasted a number of good situations- chased well, but has to contribute in the goals and assists column.

Kane and Son did not fire, and will never be cohesive- both too greedy- at least looked better admittedly against the worst defence weve faced since restart.

Mourinho- counting the days.

Could you Adam and Eve it? Mourinho had us playing 442 and it worked!
Lucas and Sissoko were much more effect playing wide in a midfield four. It completely neutralized their threat out wide from Bellerin and Tierney(tell me again why we were not interested in signing him - another decent FB we managed to miss).
I would stick with this formation for the remaining games as It stops Lucas getting in Kane’s way and simplifies things for Sissoko- cover Aurier when we’re without the ball and bomb down the flanks when we do have it. It even meant we got in behind them at times as we could engineer a two against one, something we rarely do.

Defensively we were solid and were rarely troubled. With that as a base in this formation we could counterattack effectively. I thought this was Kane’s best game since the restart. He made better runs and should of really had a couple of goals. Not sure him and Son work effectively together as they both can be a bit selfish. In the later stages when Son and Kane were two on two Son should have played in Kane for what should have been a certain goal. In mitigation they both are still short of that sharpness that strikers need after so long away.

Found it strange that JM did not make substitutions earlier especially when we’d had 2 days less rest than them. Lo Celso was out of gas at the hour mark. Would liked to have seen him bring on NDombele for him and maybe Skipp for Winks around then. I don’t feel he’s making the best use of the bench given how fast the games are coming and you can make up to 5 changes.

I’ve seen a bit of(unjustified) criticism of Davies on here but not one person has mentioned his superb strike in the first half. If it hadn’t of been for a great fingertip save it would have been Goal of the Season contender.

I gave Lucas MOM. He worked his socks off defensively and was instrumental of many of the best moments going forward. He is much better given the remit to hug the touch line.

@shelfboy68 if you'd watched it, you'd have windmilled so hard you would have emptied the hot tub mate.

An improved performance, some actual signs of life in the attacking play. Especially toward the end. Defensively sound centrally.

Glaringly obvious as discussed over and over where the limitations are. I was just happy the players put some effort it. Aurier can pack his bags for all i care, but he did work hard. I don't.think anyone was anywhere near as lethargic as the last game. Which is a relief as if they couldn't get themselves up for the NLD then it would be hopeless.

The green shoots of recovery are there. Roll on next season. This one was as shit as 2020 has been a year.
No mate I didn't watch it, but instead recorded MOTD and got up and watched it this morning around 5am.
Great result of course and apart from the Sheffield United and Bournemouth games we have done ok, the goals conceded has improved which is good, although still concern around Kane who is not scoring or barely involved of late.
Otherwise yes things are slowly coming together but the need for personnel is evident, just hope Mr levy doesn't let him down.
