4-4-2 seems to bring the best out of our attacking play
Kane was having a off day today most days he would have buried a few of those chances

Well how do we all feel about that? Us beating the Arsenal is never to be sniffed at. However, is beating them enough? Is it a start or a finish? In these uncommon times it is not a bad thing to reflect on where we are. Listening to many lifetime Spurs supporters I feel they are divided presently into about five main camps/groups.
  1. Those who believe that ENIC/Levy are our main problem. Progress being stymied by their business first approach.
  2. Those who believe that the coach Mourinho and his coaching staff, are the problem. He isn't a good fit for us
  3. Those that believe it is the players/squad, who are not good enough to take us forward
  4. Those that think that it is a combination of the above
  5. Those that are happy to accept where we are, as long it is above Arsenal and winning, the performance being a secondary consideration to the result

Looool everyone uses the same trash arguments all the time. Since the end of 2015 he’s been schooled by Conte and Pep despite spending 419(!)M. His job as a United manager was to win the league and he failed. End of story, clown
Keep an open mind. Of course it's not guaranteed that he will prove successful - that is never a guarantee with any manager or head coach but there is no suggestion that Daniel Levy is going to sack him at this point so it's as well just to remain positive rather than dwell in the negative for what could be quite a while.

Finally we saw quality tactics from Jose, ones that suited us and more importantly were exactly what was necessary against the scum..... Kinda gives me a little hope.

"We always play with a lot of attacking players. I think sometimes we are not objective, always one more touch, sometimes too many people coming for the ball and not attacking spaces,"

"Some other teams with less attacking power they are more objective and aggressive in the way they go."

"I think yes we have to improve that, but this is a team that had lots of defensive problems. Part of the attacking problems were caused initially by so many injuries. Defensively this was a team that conceded a lot of goals, very difficult to keep a clean sheet.

"As you know, when I arrived, for about one year without a victory away from home. Even in my time just three, but in this time after the lockdown, of course we conceded three goals at Sheffield, but we kept three clean sheets and conceded a penalty against United, we conceded today a goal that is a monument of a goal.

"So I think that from a defensive point of view the team is improving a lot but that is not enough. We want more. In the beginning of next season we are going in search of more."

Good to hear that he sees what fans see about attacking play. But it was reasonable to focus on defense first. We'll see what he does next season as probably not much will change in this.

But But But Mourinho doesn't want us to attack, he wants us to have 0 shots on target and to just park the bus for 90 mins.

Let the above quotes be a bit of a remember that JM is one of the best in the world at what he does, he knows a lot better than any of us do when it comes to getting a team firing again. Give him the time he needs.

While Lyon were possessing teams to death, Lille were happy to cede ownership of the ball, sit back in a rock-solid 4-4-2 medium-to-low block and annihilate its opponents on the counter. Nicolas Pépé, Jonathan Ikoné, Rafael Leão and Jonathan Bamba became the stars of the show, but behind them was a pair of highly-functional and hard-working midfielders – generally taking the shape of Thiago Mendes and Xeka. The latter could be qualified as a destroyer: The Portuguese had energy to burn in the defensive phase and for that reason added little to the blistering counterattack.

The former, meanwhile, was quietly the lynchpin of Lille’s attack. Mendes’s job was to make the first pass – releasing an attack he rarely joined. The Brazilian, despite nominally playing a more advanced midfield role, was seventh on the team in attacking third touches; he averaged merely one pass into the penalty area per match; he scored zero goals.

As Lille were entering its stride, Mourinho began to make frequent appearances at of the club’s home, Stade Pierre Mauroy. The Portuguese manager had a relationship with Campos from their time at Real Madrid, but the more he appeared in northern France the more it seemed evident he had an affinity for Lille’s playing style.

It made sense. Mourinho’s version of counterattacking football had grown stale during his previous management role at Manchester United and Sacramento’s system represented an updated version on the old classic. Therefore, when it came time for Mourinho to take over at Spurs, it was unsurprising to many, that he would go on to poach the 31-year-old, assistant manager from Galtier’s staff.

He's got his tactics spot on today. If Kane and Son took their chances we would've been 4-1 easily.

But it's funny.... Sheffield United won against Chelsea with 26% ball possession yet no one gives a fucking a shit but apparently we were dominated by this pathetic Arsenal ?
In fact, everyone is praising this SU team as being innovative.

Agendas eh?

We won rope a dope games against other teams under Poch too and no one complained, Dortmund last year was a bit like that. Even away at Arsenal this season we did the damage against them on the counter IIRC. Went 2-0 up during the first half I believe.

Yes criticisms of recent attacking performances were valid, and I still personally have big concerns if Jose will have an answer when it comes to games where we are on the front foot, but his tactics were excellent yesterday and anyone complaining about yesterday specifically is showing a blind spot IMO.

0-0 against Bournemouth, SpursCommunity: "Mou out, we can't even score or create against shit Bournemouth team"
2-1 against Arsenal, Spurs Community: "Means nothing, Arsenal are shit anyway"

Strange times when we don't appreciate NLD win anymore. Yeah yeah, vision, style, where we are going as a club, Levy out etc. etc.. But dudes, some games you just have to win. This was one of them.
