We win a game and ppl are not happy.

Can't people realise that when a team in transition and rebuild will always look bereft of ideas and insipid.

Jose always focuses on the foundations first. And let's face it our defence needs drilling relentlessly. Everton barely had a sniff tonight, neither did United, neither did West Ham. When Jose tried to be clever with the attack we ended up getting hammered by Sheffield United of all teams.

We need to focus on defensive resolve for now. Address the problems in the structure and then focus on getting attackers to improve movement. We also need better runners.

Most of Jose's first seasons are like this. Mostly his second seasons are much better as he has had time to get the defence in shape and add better players to suit both that and the attack/ability with the ball.

We ain't rocking up and brushing teams aside with Sissoko Winks people

Levy must realise when we can have fans in the stadium no one part from the real hard core will pay to watch this shit.

People make the argument that we need to win something no matter how we play. Well, at what cost? This football is a price I just do not think we should pay.
I would take a season of dodgy football if we win something. That said, it's opinion.

"Jose tried to be clever and attack"

That's both extremely charitable to Mourinho and extremely patronising too.

Stop complaining fuck me, evident that Sheffield individual errors aside we are systematically far more solid defensively since the restart. Do you remember how bad we were defensively earlier in the season, just look at the difference on set pieces FFS. 4-3-3 overload worked well against Everton mdf 2 and spacing was nice against their press. We didn’t give them a sniff. The attack will improve as we replace braindead players like Lucas with Bergwijn and positional rigidity improves. COYS

Mou will be delighted with that, as am I. 3 points. Clean sheet. No injuries. Resolute. Gritty. Unspectacular. Defensively sound. Eric MoM for me. Something to build on.

you have to start from somewhere, youdon’t go from the Sheffield United performance and many of the like this season to champagne performances overnight. It’s a start and it’s not eye catching but you start from trying to be more solid at the back

I think we could’ve played another 90 minute and I don’t think Everton would’ve scored.

I’m not sure if that’s a compliment to us or criticism of how poor Everton were.

Not one single positive to take from tonight. Nothing. Nada. Bet you Mourinho will come out with some absolute dross about "seeing a reaction" or something. Any other team than this piss poor Everton would have put one or two past us. So utterly embarrassing.
Right, I don't like this style of football. But there is a lot of positives to take from this. This everton isn't a poor team. Form wise it's the second hardest game we've had. They beat Leicester, Norwich and got a draw against Liverpool.

The fact is we were 1-0 up and closed shop. This was the game plan, and Everton couldn't break through us. You might not like the game plan, but this was a good defensive performance were everyone worked hard. This is Mourinho, and unfortunately we have to get used to it.

Since the break we have played 3 games which were perfectly enacted by the players and we got a good result, and one which was a mess. This is the way it will be. Hopefully we will improve attacking fluidity next season, but this is not what we need right now, or more strictly speaking not what Jose needs right now. He needs to trust the team defensively. For Jose this is a good positive performance, and again, you will have to get used to it.

Other teams looking flat is not an accident. They looked flat because we were compact and made it very difficult for them. The same happens when we looked flat. Everton did not have the answers. Be we controlled the game, like Sheffield did after half time the other day.
