Was that about the last shot Everton had? Although it was Kane mostly who didn’t go to the ball but Son was thereabouts and was a statue for at least one Sheffield goal.

Interesting to see that we've changed the defensive shape to a 4411/4231. GLC is much closer to the CM's when we don't have the ball than any of those to play in his position before.

I want to see N'Dombele on for Winks or Sissoko. Pretty sure he'd make things harder for Everton than the other two are atm.

Then again I realise that at 1-0 that won't happen.

Lets be honest, a rather uneventful and insipid half of football from both teams. Gary Neville was completely right when he described it as a series of one off passes with no meaning or idea behind them, no combination play or clever fluidity of movement. All rather basic stuff.

Fairly just then that the goal was a really scrappy one - the ball ran kindly for us a couple of times, Lo Celso has a swing at it, a massive deflection and it ricochets into the net for an own goal.

We've looked slightly less anaemic over the 45 mins and made a smidgen more of the running, but not really a convincing lead. Both teams need and will want to showing a fuck load more in the second half.

Well its like Neville said, where's that fire on the pitch?

We're so shit that seeing something like that doesn't faze me a single bit. Just don't care.

The extra man in midfield unsurprisingly makes us look more solid as we aren’t constantly ceding possession
Maybe, but the main thing is we are tracking players much better, like much better. Not allowing them to overload the box like against Sheffield. Formation is nothing to do with it.

I reckon it was about that last minute where Son didn't go for the ball and allowed Richarlison just to go with the ball
