Of course he fucking made mistakes, he’s played a handful of games spread over three years.

He also made several good passes, crosses, and had Sterling in his pocket so badly he had to swap sides.

Nobody is saying he’s the answer to all our problems, only that he’s making clear progress and that if this continues throughout the end of season run in he’ll have earned the chance to be one of two right backs at the club next season.

Jesus you lot. If you watch football purely for some sadistic compulsion to find mistakes, you’ll always find them, especially when you’re watching a young defender against a side who were parked in his half the entire match.
If he wasn't a Spurs player yesterday and you watched it as a neutral with Danny Murphy's voice turned off you would think differently.

If we want to stay in the current position we find ourselves, which according to the fans on this board isn't where we want to be then yes he could well be one of our two right backs next season for a mid table premiership team.

However the fact Jose sent him out on loan when we only have one right back would suggest to me he doesn't rate him.

I think these players are good enough or can be coached into what we want: Lloris, Alderweireld, Dier, Tanganga, Davies, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Winks, Son, Alli, Bergwijn, Kane.

If we can improve them I would move these on or let them go: Sanchez, Aurier, Sissoko, Lucas, Lamela.

Or he realised he needed to go somewhere and build his confidence and become a first team regular. And that, for whatever reason wasn't happening. Jose may have wanted to focus on improving Aurier, and he has, but it's not enough. KWP is calmer with a final ball and we're really missing that in the final third.

Also, changing body composition is really tough for an athlete. It causes series fatigue and doesn't go well with being match fit. This lockdown was a godsend for all those looking to bulk up slightly.

When you're that light weight the strength can be a real game changer.

KWP is obviously not the finished article and he's going to make mistakes - he's 21 with about 15 first team matches under his belt for God's sake, but the point is that he is improving as a player because he is getting a run in the team which is all that was needed in the first place which many people have pointed out over the years. I'd keep him next season but Southampton insist on doing a deal with Hojbjerg going the other way then I'd happily swap and bring in Aarons.

I saw him against Newcastle and Inter live this season and what I saw was a player with good technical ability but nothing going forward or defensively that jumped out and said that lad has a future at this club.

He is 23 years old not 19 and has had chances to cement his position especially early this season and failed due to limitations in his game.

Having watched both Brandon Williams and Neco Williams this season both 19 years old and are on the same level of KWP now and both have better attributes to their game

He is only getting bigged up by Saints fans because there normal right back Valery is utter dross and that is being kind.

The inter pre season game? And the game where, when we all look back on this season we realised that something was deeply wrong for the first time?

KWP is capable in attack, and with confidence would be a pretty productive RB. Defensively he was getting bullied in games.

Players mature at different times, if, and I'll admit it's a big if, he begins to meet previous expectations he could be a great player in a position we need depth in. I'd rather give him a chance than buy Aarons.

Astounding isn't it? We're rating players based on pre fucking season matches now are we

He is 23 years old not 21 and 3 years older then Max Aaron's but you keep making excuses up why his development isn't further down the line.

He has played two games on the bounce that is not a run in the first team.

Nah no excuses, just plain old facts - he's been mismanaged, should have got this loan 2 years ago, alas it's a bit late but we are where we are with him, just needed a bit of confidence and direction and some games under his belt, no reason why he won't keep improving now if he's constantly picked.

2nd sentence is solidifying my point, if he has played 2 matches on the bounce and is improving just think what a run in the first team could do.

Reminds me of Kyle Naughton. Does a job in the Premiership and when going down to the Championship does a job there to. Will never be anything more.

What i was saying was that he won't get a chance with our fans on his back, not that he should never make mistakes or is not progressing.
