Magalhaes, Koch and this guy are the centre backs we have been linked with in the past week. All of them are big, imposing defenders who get at their man, but only this guy seems to have that natural burst of pace. However, if we are playing in a low/mid block it might be less important.

I do share the worries of others here that he has had very little football against top competition. The other two play in competitive leagues and in the case of Magalhaes, there's European experience too. However I reckon this guy will be the cheapest option.

With Thiago Silva and Diego Carlos we are linked tbh with 5 completely different players.

Stature wise he reminds me of Carter-Vickers which then begs the question, how good would CCV be in the Chinese League?

He looks like a natural runner. Can hold the ball, making long passes and is not afraid of going forward. Reminds me of Toby and Kaboul
Looks like a decent header. Like how Son slots the ball in from corner

Looks like Son has a great corner on him. Wonder why we've so rarely used it over the years?!

Because we had the mighty eriksen whipping in beauties
And then the fecker goes and scores direct from a corner the other day for Inter :bored:

Although it seemed pretty clear our tactic was to hit whatever bollard the oppo plonked on the edge of the six yard box

We've got a good little corner taker in GLC, imo

On topic.... i would like this guy to join up with us, not sure it's that risky given our potential transfer opportunities and his overall potential.

He does look a half decent player, however to me this just seems like a commercial deal especially at the price quoted! Think of the shirt sales we would get from him as well as Sonny!

I don't see the fuss in him - yes he looks decent in youtube but he is 23 and have not played any competitive game (club or country) against decent teams...If we want to replace Jan, we need someone who is more proven , atleast played in a competitive league

Agreed, in an ideal world i'd bring in two centre backs. 1 younger and 1 more experienced with Toby leaving. Don't think the latter would happen though.

Personally I think we should go all out to get Malang Sarr on a free transfer. It's surely a low risk potentially high reward move. If the news is true that we're talking to Thiago Silva i'd be very happy with Dier, Sanchez, Sarr, Silva and Tanganga as CB options next season. It would put the icing on the cake to get £10-15m for Toby on top of that.

Because he’s great in the air for us from corners.

Na only joking, it’s because he’s the fastest and we need someone to chase to loose ball when the defender at the front post headers away our shit corner that can’t beat the first man. :cautious:

Can’t have it all

Sarr would be great but I think more glamourous clubs than us will be all over that.

Even with Jan leaving, we are left with three experienced centre backs in Dier, Sanchez and Toby. Tanganga and this guy rounding it off (if he’s any good) is fine.

we are a glamorous club just missing glamorous owners that’s all

I say bring this kid in and see what he’s made of

we can sell if he’s not ultimately up to it

he won’t make the difference between 7th and 4th anyway
