Must say I'm fairly pessimistic about this game because it seems we're carrying a few minor knocks & there will be the Rashford effect. What he's done in the last week or so will not only lift him, but his compatriots as well & they'll be well up for the game.
to suggest that there will be a 'Rashford effect' on the outcome of this match is pretty ridiculous really, but it is the sort of thing that I would say too and you can just imagine him scoring the winning goal!!

I think we need a defensive midfielder for this. Dier has to start and we need to make sure that they don't dominate the midfield.

Hugo

Aurier
Alderweireld
Sanchez
Davies

Dier
Sissoko
N'Dombele

Le Celso
Kane
Son

I think we've all got to be realistic about our chances in this game. It's really positive we've got our stars back. But tbh we've been playing like a drain all season and I can't see any reason we're going to suddenly become a decent side now lockdown's over. We've still got poor full backs, an inconsistent midfield, and throughout the team we are full of mistakes. United aren't perfect but they had momentum before the break, an excellent player in fernandes, plus the Rashford factor. I think it'll be tough for us and I wouldn't be expecting too much joy tbh.

:wtf:

Foythy's done a knee and might need an op. That's him for the season presumably.

FFS. He was unlikely to feature much anyway but still sucks.

If he needs surgery it will be tricky to find him a loan or move him on in the summer.

Seems like Sissoko will play, in that case i'd swap him for Gio and push Ndombele forward a bit. I personally would have switched to 4-2-3-1 though and played Skipp and Tanguy as a CM2 with Lamela at 10 and Son and Bergwijn either side.

My XI : 4-3-3

Lloris
Aurier Sanchez, Toby, Davies
Sissoko, Winks, Ndombele
Lucas, Kane, Son

Sissoko to babysit and clean up the mess of Aurier....
Ndombele in this formation to have the freedom to get into spaces and cause trouble for United.

Not too keen on Sissoko starting tbh - never a fan of him in a midfield 2 - but in his defence he was looking better prior to his injury.

Sissoko, Winks and Ndombele in a midfield 3 seems like the best balance for me, assuming we aren't starting Skipp.

I know it's been three months off but surely nobody could of forgotten how awfully shit a midfield consisting of sissoko and winks is, could they?

I mean, we had an untold amount of examples of how bad they are in midfield together, because Sissoko goes walkabout and we are then left with a midfield one of Winks.

If they start again we will see a load of posts from people about how bad Winks is playing because people don't realise he's holding the midfield together on his own.

Cant wait.

True. Sissoko mainly playing right back to accommodate the lop-sided Aurier.

If GLC is fit, he will/should start ahead of Sissoko. But otherwise, we got to play him to cover Aurier, especially against pace of Rashford/Martial

So with Mourinho confirming Son, Kane, Sissoko are starting and GLC's fitness is questionable, I'm thinking we go with:

Bergwijn Kane Son
Ndombele Winks Sissoko
Davies Sanchez Toby Aurier
Lloris
Subs: Gaz, Sess, Jan, Dier, Skipp, Gedson, Lo Celso, Lamela, Lucas
