Sorry misread your post. Thought you were saying they were risking another FFP breach.

I don't think I put it very well. I suppose it is luxury to have a player like Morata who isn't required that you can charge someone £50m for though. And then spend that money on Timo Werner.

I an understand financial prudence right now with a totally uncertain future. It may be a year before supporters are allowed in to matches. Who knows what will happen. Criticised for using the Furlough scheme; with high overheads including wages to pay the priority must be financial survival

Yes. Agreed. This awful situation will be a true leveller for much of football in this country where clubs have been spending money that is not really theirs for some time. At least I am safe in the knowledge that our chairman will keep things on as even a keel as possible and that we will survive.

Sissoko? Seems that should we be playing with the same(ish) deck of cards next season, he might be very important. In particular if reimagined as a DM.
That’s not to say that should some schmuck come along and offer 50m we'd be idiots to turn them down. But until we r on financial stable ground I'd want to keep him around.
I don't think we r going to be a non entity in the TW either. Like most, we will be wheeling and dealing with loans, swap deals and free agent signings and bargain basement hunting from teams that have been relegated.

I like Sissoko's attitude and think he can be a good squad player.

But I believe a lot of Championship and European sides might not be able to turn down reasonable offers for their good young players this summer.

If we can get a reasonable fee for Sissoko plus save his £90k a week salary then it has to be considered.

There's a lot of stuff in here that shouldn't be.

At some point we'll be closing this all down for a day or two to get it ready for the summer window which doesn't open for a while yet. In all honesty, after the last couple of months i'm not sure I have much appetite for it but when I can be arsed we'll sort it all out.

We've let what chat there has been take its course and not applied the usual rules with regard this thread and i'm a bit worried that some of you won't know when the time to draw the line is

So, when this thread is refreshed you ought to take that as a signal that we're 'back' and the rules will start to come into play again.

So if I'm getting this right, Liverpool and City are miles ahead of us. Chelsea are recruiting brilliantly. United can still spend shedloads and are bound to overtake us. So as we can't spend ourselves to compete, we are bound to fall further behind, scrapping for the Europa League places and crumbs in the transfer market.

Well, if I ever need to go to my happy place, this place isn't it!!!!

If the last few months have taught us anything, football may be our passion, but there are more important things.

So what if we finish 10th? Behind Arsenal? Behind West Ham? Kane goes to Newcastle?

Life goes on thankfully. Seasons, players, managers come and go.

We're a long time dead. So enjoy it when we win, don't let it ruin your day, weekend, year when we lose. Pick up the little crumbs of joy as you spot them and be grateful for every precious breath.
Love this.

But ITK does say we are looking at swaps loans free’s etc and there are some out there (Fraser, Willian etc) so hopefully we can make something work this summer so we can go forwards to some extent.

More than some extent, if it fit's with the manager's plans and philosophy?

Serie A window is set to open 1st Sep until 5th Oct. I wonder if the Premier League and other European leagues will follow.
It's a very short window though, I hope they agree to let it run until Jan as was previously suggested.

That's very short for a summer window. I wouldnt be surprised if they do mid August through early October then a 3 week window in January.

Hopefully a short window, will force Daniel to act quickly...or not at all I guess, but at least it will be over quickly.

In general I think we'll see a very quiet window. Clubs will be afraid to sell too cheaply, and many clubs will be limited by the effects of the long shutdown in terms of spending power.
