Wait... so you believe Chelsea who've beaten us twice and sit 7 points ahead of us have a worse squad and manager than us? So then why have they beaten us 4-1 on aggregate this season?

Our squads are certainly comparable. I would still take ours. Chelsea being 7 points ahead of us isn't much of an achievement for them considering the season we've been having [managerial change, most injuries in PL, etc.]

In the first team, I'd say they have a better DM [Kante] and fullbacks than us. I'd still take Kane and Son over Werner and Ziyech.

My combined Chelsea-Spurs XI:

Son Kane Werner
Ndombele Kante GLC
Emerson Sanchez Toby Azpi
Lloris

Kepa and Lloris are both howler machines so pick your poison there.

Kovacic & Jorginho deserve that spot over Ndombele this season.

Feels like we are going to get really left behind this summer! I mean with that loan looks like we won’t be spending much at all this summer, we can’t afford to sit still this squad still needs rebuilt it’s pretty worrying tbh! Chelsea already improved with two smashing signings United going to go big iswell with the rumours. We’ll be battling wolves Everton etc for 6/7

I might give the transfer window a miss this time round. I’ve actually enjoyed not fretting too much about Tottenham over the last 11 weeks and I’m not sure I can actually cope with the angst of moving goalposts, dodgy fax machines, taxi hopping Brazilians, bargain basement specials, deadline day disappointments, Fraser Campbell loan deals, lessons being learnt.

I can see this place bubbling already and I’m not convinced my beautiful mind can cope with thousands of screaming voices

This season Aurier has the worst crossing percentage all of the PL right-backs

Crossing percentage isn't a useful way of judging Aurier because of the terrible movement in the box.

Many times he'll receive the ball, look up but there's only one player in the box, that player will then make no effort to move and the other attackers are too far behind to contribute to that sequence. Its amazing how many people don't spot this every game, it's been going on for years.

We could sign a better defender than Aurier but going forward he is comfortably one of the best in the league and he can be even more effective if the attackers weren't lazy in the penalty area.

All the top full backs in the league would face the same issues in this team.

49M and 200k/wk for Werner? That’s freaking insane. An embarrassment we weren’t all over that.

We had an awesome run. But these top 4 chases cause a lot of stress. Will be fun to be back in mid-table mediocrity for a while with not much to worry about.

Serge certainly isn’t one of the best in the league going forward lol for a start he can hardly ever beat a man one on one secondly his crosses are pretty poor doesn’t matter how many are in the box when you over hit it for a throw in lol! Gets the odd spot on but I’d say around 2 out of 10! He is bang average hard to believe people try to defend him tbh

totally agree with this. Not even joking when I say my mental health has been better without Spurs!

If we didn’t go for Bergwijn playing Werner opposite Son either side of Kane would have been pretty fun but was never going to happen after Bergwijn.
I think has potential to be a serious threat for us. It was an example of us doing well in the transfer market by identifying a talent and moving quickly (and/or quietly). Similar to our Son deal a few years ago. We just don’t do it often enough.
Don’t get me wrong, we should have been pushing hard for Werner. He is the player we’ve been looking for who can play alongside /instead of Kane. All of our investment in infrastructure, as well as the jose factor should have given us a chance to at least be a contender.

From the very little we have seen he seems a real talent. Sharp, tenacious and a very clean striker of the ball. He is a huge upgrade on what we had (Lamela/Moura) and has a much higher ceiling.

I personally hope this season sees greater fluidity in the line up. I don't think Kane needs to play every game with Son and Moura both capable of playing up top when we have a fully fit side. We do still need an understudy for Kane as when he isnt fit we are fine until someone else goes down and then we are filling holes left right and centre which obviously doesn't work.

I think it would have been embarrassing to go in for Werner and spend all that cash on a very good player but one we don't need.

Name six right backs that are better going forward.

Many are eager to criticise Aurier and a lot of it is justified but a lot of it goes way beyond that to the extent that others in the team get a pass for not doing their jobs properly.

The last time the attackers consistently showed any desire in the penalty area was the last season at White Hart Lane.

TAA would not be as good as he is if the Liverpool forwards were statues in the area.

It'd be nice to see some links in the press that were either believable or were not thoroughly so underwhelming I didn't just close the paper/page down I might be perusing.

Edit: missed the words 'were' & 'not'.

This deal is like Grealish/Coutinho or Bruno in winter. We don't need them, we can use this money much better but we should be all over them because we were linked in the past :D
