4 assists? Considering we’re heavily reliant on our full backs for width and putting the ball into the box... 4 assists is nothing to write home about, especially when the majority our attacking width goes through Aurier. I watch every Spurs match (tv/app) and the amount of times he puts in aimless crosses/straight at the keeper is ridiculous.

Defensively he’s a shambles.

I agree. And in addition Serge is not reliable. He can have the odd good game but then has lots of games where nothing works out. If anything we need an ambitious challenger for Serge at RB. Shoving Sissoko / Tanganga / Foyth there might be a move for a game here and there. But its not something that gives us the right balance.

4 assists is definitely alright for a RB. Not his fault the LB isn't providing anthing. How many assists did Trippier or Walker get for us at their peak?

4 assists in the league and 7 in total sounds fine but honestly, this is not the key for the judgement. Like Luka Modric who was one of the best creators I have ever seen in the shirt from CM or like Lo Celso now. Both have/had not really loads of assists, their value for our teamplay is/was exceptional anyway.

It comes for a big cost that we play Serge nearly as a RM and give up the attacking of the left defensive side to get some sort of defensive stability. Its not the fault of Davies/Rose/Sessegnon that they need to stay at the back most of the time to make this system happening. Then Serge is not really a threat the opponent has super worries about. He hits a few good balls sometimes but there are loads of games absolutely nothing comes off.

Your right, if we could show the ‘assists for the assists’ stats (sounds a bit rumsfeldian I know) Modric would figure highly and it’s where the like of Lo Celsius excels!

Given our lack of balance across our full back areas we're reliant on keeping the left back in defence and pushing Aurier forward. Other than Aurier's limitations we're one dimensional and easy to attack as everything goes down the right flank. Lose the ball in attack and we've a gaping hole at right back. Whereas if we had two athletic/attack minded full backs then we would have a much better balance, attacking intent on both sides and the ability for both players to get back.

I think maybe the right answer of instead of creating more meaningless stats is to just judge the total impact a player makes to the team with our eyes!

I agree on principle with being in on someone who can evolve this squad over the three to four windows. I think this summer will be very strange with not much cash being spent and if we address absolute priority areas such as DM and then move on to the next one with a Campos figure ready to go then all well and good.
I think the immediate priority is to finish the season as well as possible and try to secure European football of some kind. Then Mr Levy will need to carefully balance his books before having a plan on expenditure for the next two years. Personally I think this pandemic will hit clubs much harder than is being reported.

The Campos move almost makes too much sense for us, i'm not holding my breath but your point is spot on.

This is an unprecedented time for top flight football generally. It may rumble on for some time. With uncertain revenue streams, an investment in the long term recruitment strategy would make perfect sense. Planning the next 4-6 windows is surely key to this and managing budgets and needs are all elements - a specialist is a bit overdue in my opinion to make this happen cohesively.

Jesus. I'd forgotten they'd even signed Ziyech. Werner would be a huge signing

Werner Tammy Ziyech Hudson Odoi pulisic with the midfield they have is very good. Unreal amounts of pace, goals and potential

Chelsea signing Werner on the same day as Spurs sign up to a bank loan. Seriously, give me a Saudi, Russian, American...anyone but Joe Lewis.
