Apart from everything else discussed in this thread, a settled starting XI and a specific position/job for NDombele will be crucial for his success.

Not sure if that will be in a midfield 3 or a 2, or even as a number 10, but I hope Mourinho has something up his sleeve.

If we can get Tanguy and Lo Celso firing on all cylinders, we could have a title tilt no problem.
Need to sort the defence before a title tilt let’s be honest lol

The potential there is huge. My non-Spurs mates just don't get it and think I'm exaggerating, but in terms of pure natural ability, the only Spurs players that compare in the last 10 years are Bale, Modric and Dembele IMO.

It will be so frustrating if we can't find a system for him, or get his fitness/mentality sorted.

I honestly don't think it'll be that difficult to sort out. Improving our attacking options, sorting the midfield and getting us attacking and defending as a team, will see huge improvements in defence. Of course a couple of new defenders wouldn't hurt either.

No tilt at the title until we sort the defence and a proper DM out imo.
On the plus point I think we are a few clever signings in them areas away from a title tilt

Problem is if we're not pushing for honours soon then Kane will start looking to go, then Son, and before you know it we're back to square one.

If we want to push for the title, realistically we need a new CB, new fullbacks, a DM, a backup striker, probably a new keeper and maybe even another creative forward player. Oh, and a winning system. That isn't all coming this summer.

Hate to be a downer but until Pep and Klopp move on we're not getting anywhere near the league.

Reality is that we don’t need all of those. We probably need a DM, a RB and a back up striker. People always seem to over estimate how many players are needed to move a team forward.

I think we could get away with weaknesses if we had an amazing system that suited all our players. Since we don't (yet) have that, the only way we challenge for the title against this Liverpool and this City is by having quality all over.

I don’t believe it is an issue of the wrong system. I really just think we have been fatigued (hopefully not anymore) and that we have players in key positions who are very prone to mistakes.

We don't need a CB ! which two of our centre backs are good enough for a top 4 team ?

Well we have Toby, Sanchez, Dier, Tanganga even with Jan going and Foyth not trusted. In terms of priorities I’m more concerned about the total lack of options at RB personally. However the point I was making is that we don’t need 6 players. 3 changes to the squad would be transformative

I agree. Leicester won the league with Morgan and Huth at centre back.

A top quality defensive midfielder could transform our team. Good protection for the defence and the freedom for the likes of Lo Celso, Ndombele and our attacking mids to get forward more.

Ndombele, and I say this with no hint of sarcasm, is our best player. Better than Kane, better than Son, better than Lo Celso. When he gets firing and settled this will become more and more obvious. His talent and potential is unsurpassed in the squad.

Ability wise you are probably right.

But Kane's drive and determination make him phenomenal and more than makes up for any lack of ability.

Agree but Tanguy has skills and talent that is very rare and is so effective in controlling/changing a game. Dont think everyone realises this.

I think most see his ability but are very concerned about his fitness. Whether it is attitude or there is an underlying issue we don't know. But while his fitness issues persist he won't be able to fulfil his huge potential.

You didn't answer my question, which two of our centre backs are good enough for a top 4 team ? and not a left sided CB amongst the four you mentioned.

The centre backs that have been good enough for a top 4 team for the last few seasons in a row?

So because Leicester won the league with them two in the team you think the four named are good enough for us ? can't really see the connection myself and you need to stop being so naive !
You can have a discussion without resorting to your last line.

My point is that you can have players that aren’t top quality and have a good team.

A top quality defensive mid and better full backs and our centre backs are fine.

See, it is possible to have opposing views without making out the other person is clueless.
