Origi can play both positions. But I don’t get why he’d want to leave Liverpool for us.
I think I am making badly is that you get the Kane style striker of which we have one.

We then have 3 inside forwards that can also play as a striker. So for squad numbers I don't think Origi is a requirement. If we buy him it will probably be to replace Moura.

But if we don't sell then a Kane style striker is what we're lacking. So a Llorente would be more our target than an Origi.

We 100 percent need a striker this summer ! They injuries and form after new year proved it! Also with Kane it’s also very debatable if you’ll ever get a full season out of him again he is becoming worryingly injury prone

Yes, In an ideal world they can play alongside Kane as well as instead of him (for their own sakes as much as anything). But most importantly, they can fill in for Kane to protect him from burnout. Whoever this player is, they have to be ok with their role in the team/squad. That’s why buying from outside the prem seems the most likely.
Were the comments by Osimhens agent a warning or a bargaining ploy?

Possibly but I think who can sell will play a huge part as well. A lot of Championship sides will be in a bigger financial mess than the Prem sides.

If we can sell our unwanted squad players then we can go back to buying talented players from the English sides who have been in a position to ask for sky high prices in recent years but might not be able to now.
Agree, but I don't think we'll be able to sell many, if any, of our unwanted players for the money we'd want. I reckon we will see a lot of outgoing loan deals though.

A lot of the problems with selling is getting the buying team to match a good Premiership side’s wages as most players don’t want to take a pay cut.

Aurier, Foyth and a few others have a selling point to teams abroad.

He'd be better off going to somewhere and being first choice. A top German club perhaps might be better for him than a mid table English team. Then again, he'd be a good signing for Arsenal.

My mate is die hard Celtic and he raves about Edouard. Has a pretty good track record with their players too tbf, he raved about the likes of VVD, Wanyama and Tierney long before they were very well known there

Edouard ? then get parrot out on loan to a championship side
Parrott on loan at Celtic as part of the deal would be even better. Helps get the deal over the line, and provides Troy with potential game time in a pressurised environment, albeit with the Irish connection to hopefully give him some time to settle.
That’s of course if Celtic want him!
Sometimes transfers work perfectly in your head....

For real haha. It's 100% going to be an eSports team or something lame. He's not leaving.

To be on topic, if funds truly are extremely limited I'm surprised there isn't more discussion on how poor our fullbacks are. While I would like a DM signing, I personally think we are in much better shape at DM than RB / LB. I like Davies and Aurier as human beings but man, I view them as our glaring weaknesses. Neither are top 6 club first choice fullback calibre. We really need new fullbacks [we have struggled defensively since 16/17 when we actually had elite fullbacks ]

FBs and lack of a quality DM are all part of the same package when it comes to our defensive frailties. The whole lot needs addressing IMO and only doing half the job won't get the job done.

There’s plenty of talk about Aaron’s and meunier as replacements for aurier. Much less about an option to replace Davies. I don’t think he’s a liability, maybe just a bit uninspiring. But with sessegnon and possibly even cirkin, there’s potential to improve in house.

Chelsea linked with Chilwell this morning, he'd be a great signing for us but never happening.

So, I really don't think we are going to have basically any additional funds to play with. I think we are realistically looking at a pretty even Transfer Fees Out/In and Wages Out/In situation, given the circumstances. Anyone thinking we have a shit ton of money just lying around, I think is sorely mistaken.

We truthfully do not have a ton of players to just get rid of. We've got maybe 4-5 (Aurier, Lamela, KWP, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Dier) that are probably up for sale, and then 3 players who are just going to see their contracts expire. Unless across the board all clubs are hacking off millions from their asking prices, we aren't going to be able to appropriately fill the obvious voids we have in this squad.

I'm actually really concerned. We could sell those few players, but if we did, how are we actually going to fill the glaring holes? All of the sudden we have an aging squad that I think obviously has talent but some serious issues.
I think I would look to sell Foyth, KWP, Rose, CCV and Sissoko without replacement and bring in a RB if we can shift Aurier. With Dier moving back we can probably skip CB for now and try to get a DM and another cheapish forward option for when Kane inevitably breaks down again.

I totally agree that our fullbacks are a weakness, but while a top dm improves fullbacks, top fullbacks will still end up over exposed with our current midfield options.

We have to start with addressing our midfield balances. The right balance in midfield enhances every other position on the pitch as it leads to overall better team possession and movement. Case in point, the same full backs we have derided were all exceptional in 16/17. Not just Rose and Walker, but Trippier and Davies too.
