Depends on who they had contact with.

The club could work the players in independent "cells" of say 7-10 to minimise spread to other players. That way, if one player gets it the whole squad aren't all going to need to self-isolate. The coaching staff would be the main infection risks as they would have contact with all players, so might need to think about how they distance themselves.

I am sure the players would isolate for couple of days until next set of results are received. There will be contingencies of being able to cancel a game if there is a sudden influx within a team, If one or 2 players from a team get it though and all others pass test, that will just be treated like an injury

The thing is, most people wouldn’t even know they have it in these players situations.

none have symptoms, they wouldn’t have been tested and nobody would be the wiser.

Its going to make the situation even stickier, there will be so many people in day to day life who have it and don’t even know, but because the players are being tested so much it’ll be made a big deal about their safety.

they are the safest anyone can be once restrictions are eased over the next few weeks

Can anyone else picture strikers being marked closely starting to innocently cough? That extra 2 metres of space between them and a worried defender might be just the ticket....

you forget that players like Luis Suarez and Diego Costa exist

Potentially risking spreading a deadly virus? I don't think so.

4 new cases with all the measures and not even started contact training yet. Considering the new rules surely if 1 player gets it the whole squad have to self isolate ?

They are not necessarily 4 new cases, they could quite easily be 4 repeat cases from the 6 that tested positive 7 days prior, as they would all be eligible to return to training if they post 2 negative tests after isolation. Premier League has not disclosed either way due to data protection.

At this stage we could be anywhere from having 12 separate cases involving 8 teams, to 6 separate cases from 3 clubs live.

When/If season restarts in front of empty stands hope someone at Spurs is going to make full use of our state of the art sound system by getting crowd noise over the system when we are attacking and complete silence when opposition have the ball.

Ive a feeling fans will be back in the stadium sooner than we think anyway. There’s talk of reducing the distance down to a metre between individuals.

It won’t be fair on everyone but that makes it easier to get fans in. Especially in our stadium which because of its layout will be easy to social distance at that level if they operate at a reduced capacity (say season ticket holders only). Sure we might not be able to sit in our own seats but it will be better than nothing if they strand us all out at a distance.

Is that possible? Old Trafford capacity is 76,000. They have sold 50,000 season tickets. Add that to any away allocation and I don't see how that can be implemented.

I estimate you wouldn't be able to go to more than 1/3 capacity and keep metre distance between people (every other seat in every other row in general, which would be 25% but might be able to reach 1/3 due to boxes etc.)

I was thinking about us in the main. But like I said, it wouldn’t be fair on everyone. But it would be up to the clubs as to how they got people into the ground. I think most fans next season, if offered to watch 9/10 home games (if people were given alternate matches for example) rather than none, they’d be ok with it. If season ticket prices were altered accordingly of course.

Plus clubs would want that too. We are going to lose a fucktonne of money next year if we have a whole season with no fans. They’ll want us back in there in some capacity.

Who else is feeling underwhelmed by the idea of the return?

Maybe this has taught me that I prefer the idea of football to the reality.

On the other hand, if we start winning again I think the love might return!

It’s been so long that I’ve just been reading some transfer rumours, and didn’t know whether I was excited or not because I’ve forgotten which areas we’re most shit in.

If we come back un-shit it will all feel like a dream and soon be forgotten.

The opposite for me.
I have absolutely hated this season, and towards the end was trying to find up excuses not to go to the games (and succeeded)
However I am really looking forward to being able to at least watch games (and don't mind lack of crowds, was used to plenty of that back in the days whilst working my way through the refereeing ranks, and still go to see matches lower down pyramid with 100 odd spectators)

What it may decide for me is what is the reason I go to Spurs, and is it to watch the match, or because I want to meet up with lots of people that I have known for years, and have common interest with, and whether committing so many days a year to travelling around the country and Europe (if we qualify) is best use of my time, or should I be working on my golf handicap.

On Tuesday I watched about 5 minutes of what football now looks like in Germany and that was enough for me.

It's going to be a very hollow and stale version of the sport when it does return in this country.

Something interesting i read the other day about matchday revenue - apparently arsenal make 1/3rd of their revenue from around 8,000 corporate attendees. I'd be shocked if we didn't have a similar or even bigger take-up of corporate interests, producing a similar proportion of matchday money.

So ultimately i think this shows that the club can get by fairly nicely, providing they can still maintain that corporate attendance, plus a proportion of ST holders. Obviously it doesn't take into account the beer/food/programs sold etc. but it goes to show where the real money comes from and potentially points us towards what the club's priorities may be.

I agree..it feels artificial to me, and it is, because there’s this huge cloud hanging over every aspect of the game at the moment, from the empty stadia to the way the players can play and behave, to the uncertainty about the format of the competition, euro qualification etc..even the fact that it‘s going to affect the start of the next season and will disrupt all normal fitness cycles for the players....

It feels like what it is - going through the motions rather than the real thing.

I‘d still rather void the season and wait till we can do it properly, but I know that can’t happen because money, which is fair enough, but not enough to get me excited about it.

But as I said, win our first game or two, Harry and Son score a few, GLC tears the place up, Dele takes the piss etc etc...maybe the blood starts pumping again....

Had a dream last night that football was back on and our first game was against Chelsea at home.

Most of our attacks we’re going down left through Bergwijn who scored in the second half with a low speculative shot that bounced all over the place before going in (VAR had to check it as well).

The Chelsea keeper, who for some odd reason had the face of a lion ? started complaining about the gold plated flooring around his goal area and had a massive gold splinter in his hand, although Jose went and inspected it and thought Lloris was fine there first half and their goalkeeper was a being a bit of a puss.

Chelsea then later on predictably equalised through our shit defending, their bloke was wearing number 20 so presume must have been Hudson-Odei if he’s not in nick by then ??

I had a similar dream last night except mine involved a blonde porn star and there were no footballers in it.

It's an omen I tell you.

Presumably there's going to be no VAR when it restarts? Or is there?

Depends if game will be at neutral grounds with VAR capability or not.
It has not been signed off yet by police, and other relevant authorities to play at home venues.
