The players should be offering their salaries to the needy at this time.

We hope the current discussions between the Premier League, PFA and LMA will result in players and coaches doing their bit for the football eco system.

Based on that quote I guess the clubs have to wait for negotiations to be completed.

Just had an email from the club trying to schedule a phonecall within the next week to see if I'd be interested in buying premium seats for 2020/21, so at least normal operations aren't completely on hold...

It is good that Levy is pressurising the governing bodies to ensure the players take wage cuts though. It’s not on him to do it without their movement first. I bet he’d love to reduce their wages by more than 20%, that’s for sure!

The loan amounts suddenly sound pretty scary in these now uncertain times, I must say. Although that’s probably because I’m pretty risk averse in these types of things.

"When I read or hear stories about player transfers this summer like nothing has happened, people need to wake up to the enormity of what is happening around us".

Think it's safe to say prepare yourselves for another elongated period of not signing anyone.

In a way I wonder if this is designed to put pressure on the players across the league. "Everyone else is having their wages cut, it's about time you agreed to something".

This man literally thrives on any excuse as to why he fails to deliver for us in the market, no doubt in my mind Kane will be off.

I'm probably the biggest BSOL here but this is absolutely fucking disgusting from Levy.

The club made a world-record profit of £114m in 17/18 season and £68m in 18/19 season. The club is one of the most rececession-proof industries and regardless of how long this virus goes on, will be just fine.

To reduce the lowest paid staff salaries by 20% and then shift the rest of what they will be paid onto the country so effectively everyone in the country will be paying their wages is despicable. On top of this there may be a long delay before they can get their furloughed wages from the government.

Also whilst it's not the players responsibility to sustain the club's staff, they should have a look in the mirror right now too.
Wow the world is in turmoil with this horrible virus covid 19 then to compound it spurs fan's are set to be levyid 20 straight after it keeps giving. :ROFLMAO:

I really think this is an odd thing to put in his statement. Seems quite patronising.

I know. Thats why I have the feeling it is very much case of getting the excuse in early that given the circumstances when ever the transfer window opens don't expect us to be active in it. Which as we all know given the clear weakness in our squad which most of us have been banging on about for the 8 months or so of the season we are going to regress even further without these being addressed.

This situation again highlights how badly the club messed up not signing anyone for 18 months up to last summer.

Wonder how Jose has taken that line?

It’s going to be a very interesting time.

Players are on contracts and teams like West Ham with high wage bills compared to their turnover might find themselves in trouble.

I wonder if some clubs are going to be forced to sell.

Am I right in thinking that all the players have to do is make up the 20% to all the staff on 80% pay between them? With their wages that should be easily managed. A percentage of each player’s salary for 3 months, sorted. No?

It’s just an easy way to cover millions of pounds of salary expenditure.

Any club or business not abusing this scheme is crazy.

In fact, I work in financial services and my company hasn’t utilised this scheme at all, and I have no idea why. Most employees are doing fuck all work, including me.

Reckon the ENIC out brigade will have to go and lie down in a darkened room for a few years, with the virus crisis football club values have plummeted, can't see ENIC selling out for some time, so more teeth gnashing at every transfer window for a few more seasons.
I find it hard to imagine how they ever would. How many parties could afford the club? Can you imagine trying to negotiate with Daniel Levy over buying the club? It would make the Bale transfer look like a quick fire sale.

look at the bright side - transfer fees will surely go down in the summer.
You can bet our valuations of other teams' players will go down faster.

May be cynical of me to say, but this virus has really taken the heat off him on the transfer front. It'll make things 'difficult', in the sense that we'll find it more 'difficult' than other clubs.

Sorry but absolute nonsense. He's doing what anyone in his position has to do. He would be failing the company that pays his wages if he didn't.

It's the total opposite. He's saying that football needs to understand its place in the scheme of things, and how unimportant it is at a time like this. Absolutely mind blowing to me that people are having a go at Levy for this - he's completely spot on.
