Really good chat on radio 5 live tonight and broadcasters role in what might happen. Worth a listen.

Thinking about it I don't mind if the PL gives the league title to Liverpool. If they do then whenever Liverpool fans say they won the league everyone else gets to interrupt and say "actually you were given the league title. You didn't win it."

They're not going to carry on this season if we get to August - it throws everything off completely timing wise for the following season and potentially seasons to come, especially if the Euros are moved to Summer 2021 like expected.
I think the Euros should be scrapped altogether , if necessary, giving 2 summers for clubs to potentially extend into.

If the season is gonna get voided, there will be no champions, simple as that.

If we are the one in Liverpool position, you can bet no one in the world would say just give the title to us.

When this is all finally sorted it's inevitable that football and especially PL clubs are going to see a some sort of loss in TV revenue, no footy on Sky etc means a drop in advertising revenue and will Sky and the others be able to get back what they have lost.
All the PL clubs rely heavily on TV revenue not just match day income , these are old figures https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...guide-2017-18-accounts-manchester-united-city
but the likes of Palace , Everton, Bournemouth have wage bills 78% ,77% & 76% of turnover wonder how it's all going to end up.

Isnt the wealth all relative though? Won't everyone just end up with the same players but much cheaper?

Having said that I guess it will probably affect us significantly with big debts to service.

There will be some clubs suffering for sure.

I imagine that the TV deals have a whole bunch of clauses written in to cover missed matches, and at the end of the day they will be the easiest thing to work out. If 80% of the TV slots have been completed then 80% of the money is paid... that sort of thing.

The more interesting one is definitely player contracts. I think that most contracts have stepped pay to account for when players are injured and aren't able to work so a lot of that has probably kicked in already. But for clubs who haven't planned for that sort of thing, and clubs like you mention who run very high wage bills as a percentage of turnover (based on a full TV season) might have a few sticky situations. It's why I think that football would benefit from a year of no transfer restrictions once things do get going again.

True, but assume Zaha is highest paid at Palace , could they be forced to sell to lower the wage bill if their income was adversely affected, come to that we might have to sell Harry.

In some ways with the stadium we should recover quicker than other clubs. That’s assuming people even have funds to go to football after this. But tbh watching sky seeing them talk about football just feels wrong. Quite frankly right now who cares.

Admit it you just want us to sell harry ?that's got to have been the second or third scenario that you have imagined that we will have to sell kane in :cautious:

Only if we can get Håland but Dortmund will want a fortune for him now.
It was tongue in cheek about Harry but financial circumstances might force some clubs to cash in on their biggest assets.

Sky TV are stopping billing to pubs and clubs, BT also apparently.

.
The word over here in ROI is that the charge for Sky Sports to pubs was €2300 a month
with a strict 3 month termination clause. Phew.
